It's tough, but I seem to always go back to the gritty New York stuff and the Vietnam epics -- The French Connection and Taxi Driver, and Apocalypse Now and The Deer Hunter.

I'll also stop on anything Kubrick, but that's basically any movie he ever made after The Killing, no matter the decade.

Deer Hunter if I wanted to go into a coma on purpose.

Watched it twice all the way through out of duty to film; never again.

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest just because Nurse Ratched is one of the greatest villains of all-time.

But actual rewatch rewatch from the 1970's?

Animal House
Halloween
Jaws
Star Wars
Outlaw Josey Wales
Rocky

Barry Lyndon on occasion.

I see you ruled out Kubrick but I watched A Clockwork Orange again last night. Such a messed up, awesome movie.

The doctors said it was pneumonia because it happened sometime later during a flu epidemic. THE DOCTOR TOLD ME IT WAS PNEUMONIA BUT I KNEW WHAT IT WAS...

Aside from that, I'll add Harold and Maude.

I like rewatching 70s Peckinpah, excepting Straw Dogs. Very good movie, but not a pleasant sit.

Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia
Cross of Iron
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid
Convoy
The Getaway
Junior Bonner
The Ballad of Cable Hogue

You got a couple of stone cold classics, a gonzo western, a few great popcorn flicks, and a piece of wonderfully enjoyable trash (in Convoy).

If you cheat and add 1969's The Wild Bunch, you have a complete meal.

The Sting (1973)

Sorta of the Shawshank before there was Shawshank. It's a movie you can rewatch on a lazy Sunday afternoon over and over. You know what happens but it's still fun to watch Robert Redford and Paul Newman pulling the con.

My favorite War film.. ..probably because the allies lose and the cost of war is really shown with such grace and emotion. It hits so hard.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)

It's an absolute masterpiece. Dirty. Gritty. Raw. Unflinching. Director Tobe Hooper's best film is so real you can practically feel the heat of the late August Texas sun as you watch. It's still the scariest and most disturbing film I've ever seen.
