Deliverance is his best film - /thread
Now if you want to talk "Burt flicks"...
Has anyone else ever seen the great Robert Wuhl bit where all he does is give the titles of BR movies. Hilarious
As for my picks of Burt flicks... Burt is often much better than the film itself. Take a movie that hasn't been mentioned: Nickelodeon. Burt is great, but his co-star Ryan Oneal is not, and the direction from Bogdanovich is kind of flabby as well. With another director and co-star, it might have been a classic.
I like The Longest Yard, and maybe a few others. Unfortunately the Smokey money printing machine rerouted his career.
I once saw an episode of BR's first TV series, Riverboat (1959). Mostly he's just another hunk doing standard leading man stuff, but there is one brief moment where you see... Yes there it is - the Burt Smirk!
Like other James Garner followers (Doug McClure, Pete Duel) Burt would learn how to be self-deprecating as well as macho. Instead of Eastwood's grim eartness, Burt would let the audience in on the joke, as if saying, "Don't blame me for this crap -- you're the one watching it!"

Unapologetically W. W. And The Dixie Dance Kings .
Worth it for Art Carney as Deacon Gore and Burt's conversation with the gas station attendant.
How bout them Tennessee Vols, huh? They goin' all the way this year, aren't they?

Burt Reynolds is a lifestyle, not a film.

Yeah, Deliverance and Boogie Nights were probably his strongest films from a critical "movie making" perspective.
