Why?
It's like when they went back into Darth Vader's backstory. The mystery is part of what makes the character great.
Malvo's a devious guy who killed people for money and just enjoyed fricking with people. I think having that be ALL we know about him makes him that much more interesting to watch.
Same with Sioux Falls. Allusions to it are far more threatening/interesting than hearing exactly what it was (or seeing it in the case of the syndicate massacre). It allows the viewer to envision their own version and fill in the blanks as he/she sees fit.
I thought the whole season was outstanding. The ending was great to me, a number of full circle moments from the beginning of the season.

In the first or second episode Lester tries to sell the used car salesman and his wife life insurance but freaks them out and they walk away.

That finale was excellent, I don't see how they will be able to come close to that again. It may have been the best casting I have seen for a show.

Awesome show, awesome finale. Fargo was the best new show on TV this year, Billy Bob Thornton knocked it out the got damn park.

Sure, he took like 4-5 bullets to the chest, but only 1 to the head. Based on location of entry wound, his language skills may be a little fricked up, but aphasia shouldn't stop him from killing people.

Great finale.
Just jumping in and had a thought.
SIAP. One thing that the promos had before the season aired had me thinking that the guy who got his throat slit wasn't really dead. In the promo they show him at a store in line to check out and he had a brace around his neck and then he pulls a gun in a guy and it cuts right as the trigger is pulled.
