Is there not a woman survivor in the game? If there is, do people not play the game/think the game is laughable because of that?

No idea. I don't play video games. But it's always laughable

I watched all of Justified thinking his name was Walter.

The player can choose man or woman. This getting brought up for every single movie/tv show is getting old.

ETA: Last sentence not directed at you, just in general.

So basically a woke movie. Another female lead character with a black male supporting lead and the strong white guy as a disfigured ugly bad guy. Smh

The female lead isn't really an issue with this show. Having a black guy in the BoS is odd though. Also looks like he carries an assault rifle instead of a laser rifle. Another odd choice.

Not sure why it's odd having a black guy in the BoS, there has been black members in most, if not every, Fallout game. At least the "assault rifle" is in the hands of a PA user so it doesn't look as ridiculous as it does when in the hands of a regular person. Though I agree, would rather they dump that abomination and given him some type of laser rifle or something.

I'm curious about what happened to the NCR, in the fight against the BoS power armor guy someone is carrying an NCR flag.

Fallout 3 was a seminal experience. Back when we were getting one new experience after another in the 360 era.

It remains one of my favorites of all time.

Hope they don't mess it up.

Hope so too...

You create the character. Gender has always been an option for the player, even as far back as the first Fallout game. That's why they've always had monikers instead of names:

Fallout - Vault Dweller
Fallout 2 - Chosen One
Fallout 3 - Lone Wanderer
Fallout: New Vegas - Courier
Fallout 4 - Sole Survivor (though technically you are also "Nate" or "Nora" depending, unless you rename the character at creation)

The premise of a "canon" gender is typically limited to a couple of snippets of dialog in future games where the character is referenced by a pronoun (him or her, depending) but nothing more static than just a couple of people talking about them in absentia.

Good point - I missed that on first watch, then realized the vault number is 33, not 13 like from the first game.

Something disastrous clearly happened to the NCR. Perhaps it's an extension of NV, and Caesar's Legions marched through and there was a "mutually assured destruction".

Some tidbits from the Fallout wiki:

quote:

Notably, the Vault is located in what would become known as the Los Angeles Boneyard, which would become one of the founding states of the New California Republic in 2189, and home to some of the Republic's crucial agencies. Before that, the Boneyard's Cathedral was home to the Unity, which would have taken an interest in such a Vault, if it knew about it.

quote:

When asked on whether the idea of a Vault so close to the Unity's power base in the Cathedral was explored, original Fallout developer Jesse Heinig explained as above, that there was no definitive list of Vaults during development and thus further developments for a TV series over 25 years later could not be taken into account. He has also floated a number of possibilities as to how the Master and his army could miss a Vault right under their noses, including lack of information, his super mutant soldiers being incompetent, or the Vault being simply better protected than others.

So bitching about it being a woman is kind of stupid then. I'm not saying a strong woman being the focal point of a post apocalyptic show is better than a man, but to get mad over it following something that is actually source is pretty stupid. Someone needs to make fun of the game for that if that's what they want to cry about.

I'm not deep into the game, but the first BoS guy you meet is Paladin and he's in the suit, so its difficult to see him. The first Minute Man met is a black guy, so I'm not sure why that would be an issue.

ETA: I'm talking about Fallout 4, for reference.

If he doesn’t interrupt every scene to let us know a settlement is under attack, is it even a real adaption?

I don’t really care that it’s a female lead role, but let’s be honest when we first got the gender option on the game not one of us was the girl first.

How so?

They're human supremacists, not racial ones. They hate super mutants, ghouls, artificial life, etc. Why would a black man being in the BoS be odd?
