It’s doing well financially far exceeding expectations.

I'm going to see it today due to the talk about it. I have no interest in F1 so I'm going in just to be entertained

Fun movie. Almost a little too much DEI with female pit crew girl but good. Just a fun movie.

Just got out and it was fun. I compare it to the original top gun. A little cheesy and a couple of cringe dialogue sequences but the race scenes were awesome. I agree about the girl power stuff. If it was just one, ok, but to have three girls playing the I'm out to prove I belong here trope was a little too much. I also think if you're an F1 purist you will probably dislike the racing scenes. I'm sure most of the moves/tactics in the racing is illegal but I could be wrong

Some spoilers below.....

I think the original top gun comparison is great.

I've been watching f1 for the last 5 years or so and some of the race sequences were painful to watch. The FIA would never have allowed half the stuff that happened in most if not all of the races they featured. Letting a driver they just met a few weeks back handle all the race strategy while driving 200mph in the rain was laugh out loud bad.

A little girl power here and there was not too bad, but nothing compares to the poker scene. Building up a lead engineer as a trailblazer in the sport only to be reduced to a one-night stand that needs the help of a guy who hasn't raced on the F1 circuit in 30 years. Which the strategy mostly revolves around coming in last but delaying or basically crashing the other competitors. Yet when they other driver goes down, suddenly he can finish top 10 without crashing people or the help of the backup driver?

Lots of brand placement throughout. Nothing like drinking a couple Heineken Zeros before a big race in the morning! Also the old driver that hates using phones also just happens to have the new Apple AirPods Max!

Overall, it seemed like all the parts for a good movie were there, but the script just did not meet the expectations.

Having a Hans Zimmer score in the background always helps boost up an average movie.

It was still a fun watch and I am sure people that never watch F1 will love it. Whatever gets more people in the theatre seats is fine with me.

Kosinski is the most bankable director in Hollywood right now. He is the modern Tony Scott. He's never made a bad film and should be able to pretty much right his own check right now with as much juice as he has.

Get Pitt and Cruise together on the next one and print money.

Also, the Zimmer score if fricking phenomenal. I want to see this film again in Imax.

Yep.

Absurd premise of course, but my family had fun watching it, which is the only bar that matters for me.

How the hell would F1 and Nascar racing even mix here?

I saw F1 last night. I thought it was entertaining and the cinematography was pretty damn good.. My biggest criticism is the lack of character development and would have liked to have seen more technical aspects of the F1 cars portrayed.

This movie would have been pretty much a dud without Brad Pitt gravitas.

I also found it funny that the actor Tobias Menzies played almost the same role he played in the Outlander series as Randel. Starts out as an endearing character only to end up being a total a-hole in the end.
