If one investigates the heavily-censored Vegas mass shooting/murder episode, you may also be surprised at some very plausible theories.

The film that he [Kubrick] wanted most to make that never came to fruition was a biography of Napoleon.
Was NOT aware of all of this dot-connecting. A bio of Napoleon that also covered those aspects would have been fascinating.
It seems that time frame surrounding Napoleon, Waterloo, the French Revolution, a burgeoning new republic, America, etc etc is plagued by a lack of detail and the suggestion that ALL of it may be just part of ONE SERIES OF EVENTS (that happened to Reset EVERYTHING.).
But at least the Historical narrative covers these themes & events quite well........OR DO THEY NOT??

My theory on The Shining is that it is a warning about manifest destiny and whether or not we can avoid repeating the same mistakes of the past.
Manifest destiny stopped when we ran out of land to conquer. But in 1969 we started back up again. It's the only thing that makes sense to me with all the native American and space exploration references in the film.

You can barely make out the word "SKI". The poster shows up right when the Grady girls first speak to Danny. It is very prominent. You see the sun "shining" right off the side of the skiers head. Underneath it reads, "MONARCH". It could have said Vail. It could have said Steamboat Springs. It could have said any number of things....it said Monarch.
Yes, it is slightly strange.

So there's lots of talk about Larry Celona being tagged to write the fake article citing the stripper's death in the movie. Larry Celona But what about Marilyn Rauber's name also being used in the fake article written by Larry Cedona? Her name is featured above Celona's...Rauber was also a new york post columnist. Was she contacted by Kubrick or is this another clue? In one of Rauber's articles, Rauber, she talks about a massacre that happened in 1993. That was the same year the Clintons started having lavish parties in Martha's Vineyard housed at Richard Friedman's oceanfront estate, Oyster Pond. They would go on to use this same estate from 1993-2000. Perhaps this is a hint at the debauchery seen in the film or perhaps the location? Oyster Pond
