Can anybody think of times casting choices were a waste of the talent in comic book movies?

This is not to say every actor "wasted" was oscar level talent just that they could've been used better in a larger or more important part like..

Idris Elba been "wasted" playing a side character Heimdall when he couldve been used as a larger villain or hero in the MCU.

Same for Jeremy Irons playing Alfred or Mads Mikkelson being under-utilized in the MCU playing that throaway villain when he couldve been Dr. Doom or somebody.

Gary Oldman playing Gordon in the self-contained Nolan trilogy when he could have played Gordon in the official DC cinematic universe.

Well when he was cast, he wasn’t nearly the name he is now.

Mads basically said he wanted to do a one off movie anyways and didn’t want to be locked in for multiple movies. He’s more of the “I’ll do the projects I want to, rather than any project that pays me” kind of actor. Not saying anything is right or wrong with that, but it’s his career, so his choice. Plus, Marvel pursued him previously to be the HNIC of the Dark Elves back in Thor 2.

As for Jeremy Irons, he is perfect for the role of Alfred, it’s just a shame we likely won’t get to see him in that role in the future (the OG cut of Justice League not withstanding).

Henry Caville has to be the all time champ as Superman. Perfectly cast, but never made any use of him.

Idk how you can say they made no use of him when he’s considered the best Superman thus far and has been in 3 movies.

You know who wasn’t wasted? Matt Damon.

It’s like someone in the MCU correctly told him that if he wanted to be in it, it would have to be for a joke.

Yeah, he’s cast well, but what did they do with him? They turned him into a tyrannical, petty, narcissistic, sociopathic a-hole. This gif alone shows what that a-hole is all about, since that explosion probably killed 20 people in that parking garage. But frick that, I got to look like a badass with that in the background.

Because Snyder knows Jack shite about Superman? I mean. I’m not a fan of the character, but I’d rather the Boy Scout than the morose, emo little bitch who lets his adoptive father die in a tornado.

Is he? I don't follow the DCU a whole lot but I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone talking about Cavill being the best Superman of all time. I still hear that Reeves is the perfect Superman.

I still wish they had moved Smallville into the big screen and used Rosenbaum/Welling as Luther/Kent on the big screen.

Ummmm, no they did. They absolutely did. No sarcasm here. What about this scene where he destroys someone’s livelihood impaling their truck when he may have just been completely shitfaced and having a bad day? YouTube

What about this scene where he throws a fricking drone 20 feet in front of a moving vehicle and starts taunting them? What if the vehicle slightly sped up? And even besides that sociopathy, he said that this was going to be done on his own terms, which is a thinly veiled implication that “I own you, now bend the fricking knee.” He is absolutely sociopathic and tyrannical in Man of Steel.

Not to mention his Metropolis fight and getting hot and steamy with Lois while folks are dying left and right. That fight triggered him in theater.

The only thing sociopathic about Man of Steel in this thread is your 1000th febrile post about this. Between you and Sentrius, the amount and volume of posts about this in every thread remotely referencing comic book movies is absolutely unhinged.

The good news for you is we’re about to stop bitching about MoS and BVS and start bitching about a writer who is glad heroes who stormed into burning buildings are now ground to ash.

I really could not believe what I was seeing when I was in the theater watching that. Some people thought that ending was epic, but I just found completely horrific on a Human Centipede level.
