Episode 8 was an original story (no spoilers)

Slow at times but it was necessary to add depth to the characters. Different plot than any of the others and was not a ESB rip off. Will be interesting to see where they go with it since they answered a lot of questions in this one.

Yea it was okay. I had more fun with the force awakens but this movie did more for the overall story.

TFA was the one time I've found a soft reboot to not suck and be appropriate...having said that, it's a legit criticism that it's essentially a remake.
whatever Johnson did, it needs to not suck and be new.
empire, totally different than star wars. barely an x wing to be seen...it was speeders and walkers and bombers and they even had a black guy.

It's weird but I've seen similar things said about how there doesn't seem to be a lot left to answer or explore in Episode 9.

billy d wasn't a diversity hire...boyega was. i like boyega and thought he was a good casting choice, but make no mistake, his skin color was a job requirement
so long as he's good, i don't care. he was good, though they wrote him some shitty lines...droid, please! hey everyone, get it...it's just like how black people use the n word as a term of endearment...we couldn't have a black guy without having him say something black.
then what's really funny is they hired him and touted the diversity but they kept shite platonic between the two leads because they probably didn't want to have a black guy kissing a white girl. really got some mixed signals from JJ, but i just assume hipsters who use the word "diversity" a lot are actually projecting their own racism onto others...just like every self styled feminist is getting fired for groping chicks.

yeah that guy was never going to get the role
i like boyega. i think he's a really good actor. no shite, i was most excited to see his performance. i was disappointed they made him a bumbling idiot janitor and the comic relief. he should have been a soldier, and rey should've been the one in over her head. i was also kind of disappointed in the lack of sexual tension between the two. i'm not saying they should've been making out or anything, but you know...something.

While I don't find him to be a very good actor, I think the writers let him down tremendously with lines like "Droid Please" and then making it known he was a 'janitor' ....He showed all that compassion @ the beginning not killing those people, and then went looking for another 'purpose,' If he would've died saving Rey's life, in the snow, I think it would've made his character stronger.
