This show is incredibly bipolar. It goes through long stretches where literally NOTHING happens in the plotline and then the next week we have to jump to lightspeed to get to where we need because there's only X number of episodes left.

That’s writing, but it’s also editing.

It's pretty sad how you have to explain to this grown men who just want 50 minutes of battle and tits.

That would be as dumb as this episode.

Next week is apparently the longest continuous battle ever filmed for an hour and a half. It’s going to be glorious and we’ll lose like 10 characters we’ve grown to love.

And that’s why this episode was disappointing. The best thing about it was the fact that the next episode should be good.

It’s okay to criticize an episode. They all can’t be winners.

This issue is there are 4 episodes left to tie the entire series together.

The reason people are upset is not because the 2 episodes were about the human element, it's because they just wasted another episode that could have actually been at the tail end that you, FINISHES THE SERIES

Briennes knighting scene
The fireside chatting lasted way too long
Arya fricking
The dickless man's romance
Arya and Hounds conversation

They're just not going to kill off these characters without some of them reuniting, my guy. There will literally be like 80 minutes of shite going down next week. To ask the show to have a refresher to even wtf is going on (what episode 1 was), and to also have a lot of these character arcs to wrap up all in one 60 minute episode is not realistic.

Where they fricked up was last season, that should’ve been a standard length season instead of those crammed episodes we got.

This season, these characters need a curtain call, it’s well deserved. There’s got to be a buildup, I mean this is THE fight that the entire show has built up to. I certainly appreciated tonight’s episode, next week will be gut wrenching.

I would’ve been shite faced with Tyrion at that fire too, probably would’ve cried at Brienne’s knighting I would’ve been so hammered.

It could have been done easily, just cut out the 10 minute dragon flying scene, make episode 70 minutes, and call it a day.

2 episodes of why Jaime isn't an a-hole anymore or how Jon is Aegon is a waste of precious episodes.

So you just want all these characters who've interacted and had their arcs intertwined for 7 seasons to just show up and get to arse kicking without any dialogue or closure?

Any lighthearted criticism doesn’t mean we thought the episode sucked.

Jeez you people can’t stomach any critiques, can you?

Has anyone come in and said they didn’t outright enjoy the episode? Or do you consider anything short of prostrate fellation insufficient?

If Tyrion and Tormund weren't in the episode, it would have been terrible. They're the only two with any personality at this point. Everyone else is basically a sad sack of shite.

There are literally 2 posters in this thread telling OP to eat a bag of dicks for asking why the epiosded sucked. You sure you're directing this to the right people?

They spent the bulk of the episode explaining things that did not need explanation, or otherwise repeating themselves.

It was a last hurrah.

Many of these characters will be dead by the end of next week’s episode.

I usually dont complain but yea...kind of a weak episode. I get tying up stories but a full two episodes have been that.

Once again no one has an issue with that.

Taking 2 episodes to do it is poor writing/producing/editing.

People are really hyped for the battle, this episode wasn’t the battle. It’s like the people who watch racing for car crashes. You will have the people who don’t want to see a clean race at a boring track when they could see a race at a track that normally has a lot of crashes.

I think it will be better liked after the show aired.

People are also forgetting the next epiosdes run longer. We have 320 minutes left. If you were to divide that in the usual 60 mins, it's almost like we have 5 episodes left instead of 4. shite is downhill from here.

In many cases, absolutely. That’s would be more effective than spelling everything out in 18 point font.

The Hounds line about protecting Arya was redundant.

He communicated the same idea in episode 8x01 and in season seven when he spoke with Brianne at the parlay.

That’s one example, but it speaks for the bulk of the episode.

Another example.

We saw the look in Jaimes eye when he encounters Bran in 8x01, and we had the trial. We don’t need the sequence in the wier wood. It simply repeats what we already know.

We've seen essentially 25% of the season so far. The last 75% will be what everyone seems to impatiently want.

ETA - 112 minutes of 432 minutes total.
