If you wanted to have a reunion episode, make a 70 minute opening episode and do it. Having 2 filler setup reunion episodes is garbage. Especially when you keep telling people "we don't have time to do all of the characters and tie up all of the loose ends from the books"

I don’t think it “sucked” but it was disappointing. We have 6 episodes left to wrap this series up. Episode 1 was a giant reunion episode where a lot of characters met up/reunited. I was cool with that, expecting shite to start happening next week. Ep2 was more of the same. While there were some great scenes, I would’ve much preferred ep 1&2 have been molded into one. With so little time left, I’d rather eps 2-6 focus on substantive actions and moments that forward the story

It was boring bc the entire episode centered around the same concept. And that concept was covered last episode

Same thing I posted in the episode thread -

This has been the most predictable path to criticism ever.

Early on the show is sort of a niche thing, so the people who like it aren't burdened by the mainstream label that they painstakingly avoid. The book readers are relatively rare and think they're God's gift to mankind as the show evolves.

Now that 15 million people watch every Saturday, they go out of their way to talk about the show being dumbed down and how it lost its soul. Whatever vague BS they can come up with in order to justify watching a show with 15 million fans instead of their own little group of book readers. They're mainstream now, and they absolute hate themselves for it

They spent the bulk of the episode explaining things that did not need explanation, or otherwise repeating themselves.

We go from the terrifying ending of episode one, to drunks sitting around a fire, and in the process, lose any sense of urgency.

Lmao I like how the OP just asks exactly why the episode sucked, and we got 2 irrational bros telling the guy to eat a bag of dicks. Jesus Christ

So what do you want? 5 episodes of battle against the NK? That’s completely unrealistic.

Next week is apparently the longest continuous battle ever filmed for an hour and a half. It’s going to be glorious and we’ll lose like 10 characters we’ve grown to love. Lighten up Francis

Briennes knighting scene
The fireside chatting lasted way too long
Arya fricking
The dickless man's romance
Arya and Hounds conversation

The fireside shite was 80% of the episode

It would be boring, more than anything else.

I thought it was fairly good - much needed characterization from lost interpersonal relationships. You can’t have great drama (and this show is about that - with dragons, magic, and much death mixed in) without having these things. They are trying not to cheapen the entire series by giving us more than just a few seconds of dialogue - and I don’t blame them.

Move the plot along?

You don't have to have all talk and no action or all action and no talk.

This show is incredibly bipolar. It goes through long stretches where literally NOTHING happens in the plotline and then the next week we have to jump to lightspeed to get to where we need to because there's only X number of episodes left.

It's pretty sad how you have to explain to this grown men who just want 50 minutes of battle and tits. These character arcs have lasted 7 years, and this was basically the curtain call for many. Do these episode 2 melters really think next episode will be a bunch of talking? They realized the shite is going down next week, right? We won't see many of these characters anymore.

Line up all your armies (one direction too), cheval de fries with obsidian.

Fly your dragons behind this guy and get it over with. Real war is to the south. At the very least, can they not scout? I know, show about magic and all.

I still liked it...….Half a cup.
