Only when she whores around again and gets teh AIDS and realizes the kid needs his daddy does she reach out to Forrest.

So? jenny knew how he felt about her, and used and manipulated that when she needed to. Growing up together, they should always be FRIENDS (and even that is arguable based on the shite she put him through) at most...he should have moved on with his love long before she finally came around.

Yeah, the whole not writing him a single letter when he was in Vietnam was some shite, though I guess she never got any of his letters since they were all sent back

At one point in the book, Jenny says, "Forrest, I'm ready for you to frick me now", and the two have sexual intercourse on a kitchen sink. Forrest breaks Jenny's heart a couple of times. Jenny ends up marrying another man and raises Forrest Gump's child with him.

Momma always said dyin' was a part of life. I sure wish it wasn't. Little Forrest, he's doing just fine. About to start school again soon. I make his breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. I make sure he combs his hair and brushes his teeth every day. Teaching him how to play ping-pong. He's really good. We fish a lot. And every night, we read a book. He's so smart, Jenny. You'd be so proud of him. I am.

Yeah, THAT would have changed the complexion of the movie quite a bit.

yeah, I've heard the book is waaaaaaaay different than the movie. Forrest is supposedly a stoner in the book...idk.

I'll never read it because I do not want it to ruin what is one of my 5 favorite films.

I think and hope this is a case where the movie is much better than the book

agreed Jenny was a tragic story. You can't really hate her too much since she had a rough go of it. I love that movie.

yeah i'm in with you when you say she's a pretty horrible person but she gets the AIDS and never gets to watch her son grow up (well more than he already has).

forrest leads a virtuous life, like picking up books for black people and giving lt dan ice cream (i'm kidding) and for that life is his lottery ticket.

his naivety (sp?) doesn't even matter. and while one of the main themes of the movie is "destiny vs our control over it", it still reminds us "do good things, get good things in return and the opposite is true as well"

the real problem that the "jenny is a whore" crowd might have is that she does have a shot at redemption and she makes the most of it.

and that's what life is anyway. none of us are perfect. most people are more like LT Dan or Jenny than Forrest.

i also always thought an underlying theme in the movie is that women suck or should be made to look bad.

they're either heartless whores like jenny, actualy whores who call the disabled names and taste like cigarettes, a cook for whitey, lazy old gray-hairs who sit on bus stops and rely on retards for amusement, and bus drivers. hell even forrest's mom who is the woman character most pure of heart in the film takes a poking from the principal in growing pains to get forrest into school.

I agree with this (not a top five for me, but otherwise I agree).

I just looked at the Wiki for the book. Forrest is 6'5" 242 pounds at age 13! The book is radically different and the wiki for it is pretty shitty, but still worth the read just to know the differences.

And why do you all assume it's AIDS? They never actually state what she contracted or has IIRC. Could have been cancer.

had alot of sex

shared alot of needles.

FG's Mom had cancer so I figured two characters probably wouldn't have it.
