Hey Hou_Lawyer, my dad is also a retired Ranger. What part of the state was yours working in? Wonder if they knew one another!

Looking forward to this rendition. I enjoyed the book and read it after the author was on Rogan.

My dad read the book and enjoyed it so I just purchased it. We were in Eagle Pass for a bit then West Texas near San Angelo. He then made captain and went to El Paso before retiring. Yours?

I am not going to watch any new Sheridan shows until he starts delivering more on what he already has going.

I enjoy almost everything he puts out, but TBH I don't think he is a very good writer. I guess I enjoy it in a 1980's slasher movie type way where I don't think its very well written and kind of cheesy at times, but its still highly entertaining.

Like John Dutton for example is this guy who grew up in a very unique, I guess you might say "privileged" way, but he has all these wise perspectives like someone with a ton of life experience even though hes spent his whole life on a ranch he inherited, he can kick everyones arse, always the smartest guy in the room, always gets the girl, etc. Its really kind of cartoonish if you think about it.

One of my favorite books of all time. I too hope Sheridan doesn’t try to PC this. The only proper way to tell the story is that the Comanches were brutal warriors who committed unspeakable atrocities on the early settlers of Texas. In fairness, they did the same to rival tribes as well.

Yep. There’s another book “The Captured” that deals with some of the German immigrant children who were taken by Comanches. Some of the stuff they did was beyond cruel. Amazingly, any of the captured children who lived with the Comanches for months or years hated being taken away from them. Most never really adapted back to society.

This always fascinated me. I think its maybe a little Stockholm syndrome, maybe a little bit of wild still in even the European DNA.

I loved the book and how accurately it described the lifestyles. As someone who has always been interested in a non-romanticized version of Native Americans I hope this movie is just as good as the book.

The difference in quality between his films and Redneck Game of Thrones/its spin-offs is astonishing
