I'm predicting 75-80% on RT. I think it will have a generally positive reception from the public. But, like with all movies you'll have some that say it's complete shite because they go in with their minds made up that they wont like it.

And some will say it's the greatest movie ever no matter what, because they have their minds made up that they will love it. It works both ways. There are just as many people who have no choice but to love it.

This will also pretty much ruin any honest discussion about the movie, sadly.

Can't wait to see the sad sacks who have been down on this from the start, "forcing" themselves to see it in the theater, trying to keep themselves from smiling as everyone else in the theater enjoys the show.

Honestly, dude? I have seen tons of DC fans heavily critical of Man of Steel and lots of Marvel fans heavily critical of AoU. I myself have been heavily critical of some of the marketing decisions for this movie and casting. Are there some people out there like what you describe? Sure. But mostly on this board it's a fair discussion on both sides. Why must you bring this nonsense in here?

I am a DC apologist but I was honest about the massive missteps in Man of Steel.

Why are you blaming me? I was responding to this post:

It's always about people who go in never hating a movie, it's never about people who will love a movie no matter what there are both kinds of fans. I'm just pointing that out.

You know as well as I do, this movie will be impossible to talk about. Heck, didn't one of the early reactions say exactly that? Something about fans being divided yet again like MoS (like one of the super early ones a couple of weeks ago)? Maybe this is Snyder's play all along, it keeps people talking.

I thought Man of Steel made many poor choices regarding who Superman is at his core (i.e. letting his father get sucked into a tornado). ..and therefore it was disappointing to me.

However, I'm going into BvS with optimism as I like the casting of Cavill and Affleck.

I'll read a few snippets of reviews posted on here but I will absolutely not read them in its entirety.

Have tickets to the 7 PM showing thursday. Cannot fricking wait.

I feel really good about this movie and it will absolutely not disappoint.

It's easier for me to respect those who will love a movie no matter what because movies are here to entertain. I have a few friends who love most movies they see because they see them for what they are - entertainment.

It's much more difficult for me to understand a person who goes into a film with the intention of disliking it, no matter how good that film may be, just because they have been pissing on it on the message boards, or they don't like the filmmakers, or the pre-judged it due to the trailers, etc.

Oh, it'll be talked about. I can promise you that. IMO, it's impossible to gauge right now. Yes, the reactions have been great, but let's see how it does with the masses. I'm more interested to see how it does with fans on the fence.

When it comes to just sitting back and enjoying a film, you're right. But if any of us were just sitting back to enjoy films, we probably wouldn't engage in a discussion board.

My comments are about two things 1) Discussion 2) Critiquing

I agree, people who love movies no matter what are probably just more fun, but because they view films as entertainment and because they like everything they see a real discussion about film with them isn't really possible. I have the same kind of friends, and although it's fun to geek out about a film for a little while, there's no point in actually talking ABOUT the film with them. There is some value in a discussion, they can help bring you out of the over-critical lens that we who talk about films can usually find ourselves in. And that's a good thing.

You should, for the same reason that you like the other people. Their perspective, while also not a completely trustworthy one, is still valuable to have around. They could make you aware of things you didn't know, or didn't see just because your inner fanboy jumps out. But yeah, overall people like this are just as single-minded, and just as tiresome over time.

Heck, I don't mind trying to convince someone with illogical hate about a film that they are wrong, that can be fun.

Bothe exist, and both have some kind of value there, just like any dissenting opinion. That's a good thing.

Eisenberg and Gadot are getting the most raves, do you hear that Breesus and OMLandshark?

I'll believe that Eisenberg was a good Lex when I see it. I just can't believe from the previews that he will be good.

Looks like I may need a helping of crow pie though. I'll admit it if he's a good villain, I promise.

Oh of course, but will it be balanced and honest?

I've said before, it's all about the tone, if the ultra-serious tone continues, I would expect the same kind of reaction that MoS got with maybe a better film. MoS was just unenjoyable for most, that's the reaction it got.

That's not correct. It was unenjoyable for many, not most.

I enjoyed MOS. It was not flawless, but I was entertained and very into the movie.

I think the reviews will be tepidly positive to average. I think it will have a lot of "meh"-ish reviews that rate positively on RT, but barely. So I think it will have a higher RT score than Metacritic score, which looks at the actual review.

People will accuse those who have a different opinion of the film than the one that they possess to be evil hacks. We will try to ignore them. The loudest cries of bias will come from people who have a comic book character as their avatar, regardless of the site, or the comic company.
