That was the entire point or Jay and Silent Bob Reboot

Horribly unfunny movie that was a cringy, 90-minute apology and revisionist take on Askewniverse canon.

All the guys you enjoyed, are now neutered candy-asses. All the girls you liked are now uber-feminist man-hating gays.

It is almost like Banky Edwards' lesbian diatribe in Chasing Amy became the model for Reboot.

I enjoyed it. I’m predicting more He-man in pt 2.

Could he be in it any less than he was this go around?

Howard always wanted to BE one of the cool kids, but put on his act as 'bad boy'. Until he got his massive pay check.

I'm only 4 episodes in and I like it a lot.
It adds some good backstory to characters. Orko goes out like a boss. Everyone is saying He-Man isn't part of it but he's in every episode as a flashback or even better, a sort of Obi Won.
It definitely has Kevin Smiths love for star wars in it.
Magic vs. Technology.
The balance of both.

Sure, it focuses on a few women as the leads, but they are well written.
Even in the Dolph Lungren movie Tilia and Evil Lynn were badass.

It satisfies my nostalgia and brings a cool new twist on the toy-centric kids show.

Remember when everyone was excited to see Teela in the original show. . .or cared if she even showed up?

Me neither.

Honestly, though, glad you enjoyed it. Hope it gives you every bit of whatever you wanted. I am a He-man fan, and wish I could purge my eyeballs and memory.

He-man without He-man is just a shitty She-ra knock off.

Teela is a lame stand in for "girls got this" bullshite.

Calling this MOU (which has ALWAYS meant He-Man) was a bait and switch, and Kevin Smith knows it. . .which is why he spent so much time lying about it when the info was leaked.

I watched the first episode, and that's all I need to see. What a disappointment

Kevin Smith got lucky with Clerks. His entire career has pretty much been more of a one trick pony than even Tarantino. It's remarkable he has managed to stretch it out for as long as he has.

Hell, the guy was "woke" back when he made Chasing Amy. He cast Alanis Morrissette as God. Removing a comically masculine figure from his own franchise is probably a life long dream of his.

An argument could be made that he's been doing it all the way back to Mallrats.

Shannon Doherty's character representing Kevin Smith and Jason Lee's character representing his fanbase,

If not then, definitely by the time that he met his gold digging wife.

Since he started or since he stopped? I thought the running theme on Jay and Silent Bob was that they always smoked, and that was the reflection of their real lives into the characters. I don't know.

Smith used to smoke cigarettes but never drank or did drugs. That as just the persona in the Clerks universe. It was actually Seth Rogan during the filming of Zack and Miri Make a Porno that got Kevin smoking pot. Unless he stopped after the heart attack, and I don't think he did, then he's basically high 24/7 at this point.

And yeah...I used to listen to his various podcasts with both Moser, Mewes and with Mark Benardin. He quite giving honest critiques about movies and TV shows many years ago, before his heart attack. It became obvious that the guy who used to use his characters to critique various pop culture things was now PART of that world and needed those people to give him work, so it did not matter how shitty a thing was he was not going to bite the hand that fed him.

And I'm exactly Smith's age and like you, was too old for the show when it was on so I have no dog at all in this fight other than, like you, it's getting old watching male dominated IP's get reamed for the sake of "strong diverse female characters."

I've always liked the guy, and I'll always be appreciative for Clerks, as it was the perfect movie at the perfect time for me, being the same age and having just spent years working at a video store! And I used to find him a truly compelling tory teller.

But yeah...he was "woke" before that was a term. I'm almost certain Smith knew what a "snowball" was from having asked for one. All of Dante's pussified weakness was Smith. I'd actually be STUNNED if Smith has not sat in the corner of his own bedroom watching his wife get railed by someone else...probably Jason Mewes.

I just watched that. There's no way I'm watching this.

At this point, having seen the exact same characteristics applied to all of these remakes, i.e. invincible, super-smart female characters and upstaged, timid and subservient men, you have to come to terms with the fact that this is all pure propaganda.

And according to the CD, they really are lesbians, or at least, it's like the early seasons of Xena when it was heavily implied, until they finally fricked.

I wasn't a huge fan when I was a kid. It was just another toy selling cartoon. To me, it's yet another shitty reboot with political intent. Why would I waste time with that?

I'm sorry.. I just saw the trailer.. then watched the show.

Didn't realize there was deception.

It was honestly fun to watch a show and be shocked the main character died. So I had zero idea where the plot was going. The characters were fine.

Also, it showed just how powerful the male characters were when they showed up. Man-at-arms literally messed everyone up with one hand. Skeletor used everyone. Adam was more heart than any character.

It was female-centric but I honestly don't see what everyone is so angry about.

Show me on the doll where Kevin Smith touched your fragile self respect.

I understand being annoyed that he lied, but ultimately I really don't care what Kevin Smith says. All I care about is enjoying the show, which I did.

Teela has always been a main character. I had no problem with her being more of the focus in part 1. There was no gender-swapping, and there were lots of other characters featured.

The Filmation cartoon had Adam transforming into He-Man every 5 minutes. It loses its excitement when you see it over and over again. The show is still about He-Man even though you don't see him. You know he's going to come back and battle God Skeletor in part 2.

If by the end of the show they make Teela more powerful than He-Man then yes, I'll be just as annoyed as anyone, but it's only halfway through season 1. Let it play out.

My son and I watched it.

It is a continuation of the original in the sense that it really doesn't relate to the original at all except for the characters. Teela went from a wise beyond her years loyal warrior to a the whiny brat, something for which she always admonished Prince Adam.

There may or may not be a rumor that the 2nd part is being rewritten to resurrect and emphasize Adam and He-Man, and Smith is very unhappy about it.

I was pretty spot on with my spoilers post earlier, and this came from the same guys
