Started super slow and... not great.
Got better as it went on. I'll continue to watch.
Minus Dennis Villanueva visuals, my wife tapped out in the first 3 minutes.

I laughed way too hard at the MS13 thing....

I'm not even sure my wife made it that long.

I'm just glad we have a new "lore" for people to bitch about.
At least right now it seems like it's only really one guy bitching and he bitches about everything that isn't a line to line adaptation (and from my understanding that might not be a bad thing given how turned off folks are from those books).

eels like they're moving from outlandish but somewhat believable physical ideas to straight up magic.
My first thought was some kind of nanobot technology. While that's never mentioned in any of the books as far as I'm aware of, there's certainly nothing ruling out such a thing.

Ah, good call. Yeah, hopefully its something like that. I always appreciated that the setting at least attempted to ground the space magic in real science.

Desmond has Gotta be a trelaxiu facedancer with some kind of ixian tech. Idk. It's effing cool
I thought the episode was great and a good setup for the story. Hopefully they have a lot more setup.
Hating on something doesn't make the complainers in this thread look cool. It's extremely difficult to even touch the dune world without pissing people off. Franks so Brian had plenty of source material and couldnt write anything close to the quality of his father.
I'll give this show a long leash to develop their story before I have problems with it.

It's frickin cool they are bringing advance elements to the show.
I wonder if he (Desmond) is actually a ghola or thinking machine.... He seemed to nab that lizard quickly

Finally got to watch last night. Was kind of looking forward to coming and chatting about the show and what do ya know, just another thread of madking and corinthians going back and forth about whos the bigger idiot.

That was the point of dune. Humanity stagnated
Thank you. Which is why the Bene Gesserit saw a need for a Kwisatz Haderach. And why Leto II needed to enforce his Peace and why he saw the need for a Golden Path. Humanity is stagnant which was the path to destruction.
As far as the show, you can see Brian Herbert's influence. I didn't necessarily hate it, but the difference between the lor that Frank put out and this show is glaring to me at times.

Where did I call anyone an idiot? I only have 4 posts in here, madking has about 20 and called bluegrass stupid, socrates something which he since deleted, and the emperor in the show an idiot

I really just wanna find out how the guy burning the kid (and I guess the BG) fits into everything
Posted on 11/20/24 at 2:03 pm to Corinthians420
I originally thought when he showed up he was going to be some form of BG disciple that was working with them. They way he and the BG looked at each other made it seem like they were on the same page. Obviously was wrong in that assumption.
Reading the thread I seem to be in the minority with the club scene. I get someone liking seeing a planet with a different vibe that we are used to but it felt a little too much like I was watching Dune Euphoria. Though I could see an argument being made that this is taking place 10k years closer to our modern times so there would be elements closer to what we have today. Different planets obviously but you know what I mean.
Overall I liked the episode and honestly don't want them following really anything Brian Herbert did. He was not a good writer and just writing books because it was a cash cow for him. I legit think his dad would have hated what he wrote. Plenty of people could write better stuff than what he put out as "lore."
