I think they nailed the Duncan Idaho casting with Momoa. he is supposed to be a bigger guy and can hold his own against Saurdakars.

I was half joking of course, but still... that clip of him asking Paul if he'd put on muscle was pure Aquaman. Or Ronon Dex.
The cast looks impressive, no question.

My sarcasm meter may be broken, but I thought he was a great cast for Paul.

It seems like the director knows Dune judging by the effects and costumes.

I’d be curious to see how that happens since we see Paul with blue eyes in the trailer.
Also shows what looks like a vision of himself at the end of book 2 walking out into the desert.

Are we really pretending Kyle MacLachlan was the bastion of masculinity in '84 Dune? Just look at those locks, man.

The character is soy in the book. He is thin, looks like a fop, it's not until actual combat that his skills and blazing speed become apparent.
As for the movie in two parts, that is the proper way to go. It is simply too much to put in a 2 hour or even three hour movie. Period.
The Dune universe needs to be set up properly. The first movie did a poor job of doing that, even with the prologue thrown in years later. He wants to tell the story right and if it takes two movies and doesn't go the way of the Hobbit, fine by me.

I just assumed when he dropped the "not my Paul" stuff that he was trying to suggest Chalamet was too "soy" for the role. He appears to be pretty spot on and his acting is strong enough to carry a movie (as others have suggested, watch The King).

Never read the books, but…
I’ll be watching just for this. Been low key in love with her ever since MI: Rogue Nation

Right. And Paul is small for his age in the book:
quote:
"Is he not small for his age, Jessica?" the old woman asked. Her voice wheezed and twanged like an untuned baliset.
Paul's mother answered in her soft contralto: "The Atreides are known to start late getting their growth, Your Reverence."
"So I've heard, so I've heard," wheezed the old woman. "Yet he's already fifteen."
Goonie is just being a little bitch.

They made Kynes a woman? It probably doesn’t make a big difference, but I guess they needed more women in the story

If you’ve read the book, it makes a huge difference.

So many good castings. Paul casting is great. Oscar Isaac is great. Josh Brolin as Gurney. Mamoa as Duncan

Yeah, I’d steer clear until you’re done with at least the first book.

How about you read Dune so you don't spout off retarded shite like this.
