Social media reactions down below

quote:

Erik Davis: By far the creepiest, gnarliest, zaniest, most haunting & terrifying Marvel movie, #MultiverseOfMadness definitely brings the Sam Raimi horror vibes, and I loved that about it. Danny Elfman’s music is a perfect fit for the film’s odd, mysterious tone & Elizabeth Olsen is MVP, imo. I most enjoyed how ambitious #DoctorStrange?? is. How it swings for the fences & how it’s lighter on humor & leans more into the evil of it all. That’s where Raimi really has some fun. Ultimately a film about being pulled toward darkness & the fight to keep it from engulfing us

quote:

Steven Prusakowski (Screen Radar): Doctor Strange In The #MultiverseOfMadness is a time-bending, mind-warping, genre-crossing good time. Audiences prepare to lift your jaws off the floor several times over. It is gorier and darker than any MCU before it. It will leave you breathless. Xochitl Gomez is a standout.

quote:

The Nerdy Basement: Sam Raimi brings his absolute best to the #MultiverseOfMadness giving us something fresh, unique, and unlike anything we’ve seen in the MCU before. Great action, utterly jaw dropping moments, emotional weight and comedy topped with Raimi’s signature horror touch! Phase 4 of the #MCU has brought a ton of unique flavors, Waldron and Raimi absolutely push that envelop even further with this film. Tons of Easter Eggs, references, nods, a good chunk of YES! moments, some lows that can’t be ignored but #MultiverseOfMadness delivers!

quote:

Karl Delossantos (NY Times): DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS fully goes horror—jump scares, body horror, and a smattering of diabolical kills. It fits in the MCU but has Raimi's deranged creepy campy groovy DNA all over it.

This movie had wild hype. I can’t believe they dropped those spoilers in a 30 second TV commercial. Absolutely no need for it.

It's already lifted. Tons of reactions on Twitter

quote:

The Reactions for #MultiverseOfMadness are in…some are mixed & some are VERY positive.

Critics are saying the film is a bit uneven & may disappoint those expecting lots of cameos, but it’s apparently a Raimi movie FIRST. Fun, horrific, fast-paced, visually stunning, & VIOLENT.

Hmm…does this confirm that this will ultimately be a bait and switch to continue ushering in the M-She-U?

Oh for fricks sake. Marvel has clearly been building up the Scarlet Witch.

A bait and switch would be if America Chavez has a bigger role than Dr Strange.

This feels more like Cap 3, which was basically an Avengers movie pretending to be a Captain America movie.

Anybody else I'd agree with you, but Scarlet Witch is a powerful arse b* to the point where she's probably stronger than Sorcerer Supreme Strange

Don’t get me wrong, I’m hyped as hell for this movie, I think it’s going to be awesome. But one thing that is noticeably missing from these reviews is that nobody says if this movie is good or not. They’re trying to dress it up with all these words, but nobody plainly says, “this is a good movie“

Haha. Yes, I know.

Isn’t she the strong, powerful woman that kidnapped and tortured an entire town because she couldn’t deal with grief with no repercussions and even some praise?

More to my original post, will this be a vehicle to “sacrifice” the male Sorcerer Supreme in favor of a new, female Sorcerer Supreme?

After reading the leaks to this one, I’m not surprised this one is getting more mixed reviews than normal. Seems like this is one of the few times Feige tinkered too much with Raimi’s vision.

I was pumped for this one but after the leaks…this one is definitely going to have a mixed crowd

Even the positive ones are saying the script is really weak.

She was an Avenger and nearly beat Thanos 1v1. Certain characters were sympathetic towards Wanda because of the good she’d done, but the town and government are very much against her. She ran away to seclusion so she never had to answer for what she’s done.

Wanda has always been a flawed and relatable character who finally broke, after emotional trauma her whole life, and is a nexus being so that’s no bueno on a much grander scale.

MoM is the culmination of all of that and shows off the weirdness of Doctor Strange and the multiverse we’re now dealing with post Loki. I expect this is a vehicle for him to grow as much as anything, and actually become “the greatest Sorcerer Supreme” the Ancient One said he’d be.

So no, he’s not being replaced. They don’t even use the same type of magic, and Strange/Cumberbatch is the center of the entire MCU now with Iron Man gone.

What is it you have against strong female characters? Especially when most of them in the MCU are great?

Didn’t she eliminate like 1/3 of mutants in the comics? (I think Marvel thought there too many mutants at that point)

Nothing when written properly.

Why do you accept poor characters for the sake of identity?

To whom are you referring? Do you even know or just stating vague and tired criticisms of the MCU?

I’m not a huge fan of Captain Marvel or Shuri and have been critical of them, but that could change and isn’t specific to women. I don’t think Thor was truly done well until Ragnarok, so maybe these two come around in their next outing.

I’d argue all of these have been good to great and most fans want to see more of them: Wanda, Natasha, Yelena, Okoye, Gamora, Monica Rambeau, Valkyrie, Nebula, Hope van Dyne, Agatha, Kate Bishop. In the extended universe that would include Jessica Jones and Daisy/Quake.
