One of those shows so great it managed to satirize it's own audience. Just brilliant. The heart of the show are the video observations. Pretty much everything Bevis says is funny.

I think Judge will solidify his legacy if he can just come out with one more thing of the quality of B and B/KOTH/Office Space/Idiocracy, but as it is, I still think there's a chance that 50 years from now, he will be recognized as a very significant creative force that impacted the culture greatly.

He's dealt on a micro-level with very macro, relevant topics.

The term "Cut classic" gets thrown out a lot, but Judge really is the counterculture poster boy who has managed to every so often slip into the mainstream consciousness. It normally takes everyone a few years to catch up to him (see Office Space or Idiocracy). He makes cult classics that become actual classics a few years later.

This pretty much, it was a show with two levels of humor. The dumb satire was there to make the show popular on one level, and then the brilliant humor Judge did so well in office space was there in the rest of the show, particularly in the video observations.

As someone born too late to appreciate b&b, I am looking forward to the new episodes.

When someone writes "Bevis" rather than the correct way I generally think less of them, so I guess that would be you.

when the driveman thinks of a bevis and butthead fan a few things come to mind: low brow sense of humor, unsuccessful, bad socisl skills, booger eater, trailer park and just a general sense of being beneath you.

first off: driveman? douche.

Second: you obviously don't get the joke with Beavis and Butthead. Judge uses them as a vehicle to make fun of the youth culture. When they first came out he used them to make fun of teens and how they watched those stupid music videos. Now he will do the same but instead of videos, they will make fun of the stupid reality shows.

It's taking a satirical look at our youth. Like South Park. Do you consider them to be low-brow?

If you do, you have a very elementary sense of humor.

Beavis and Butthead is extremely humorous with a sly wit.

I have always found it funnier than South Park.
+1

Loved Beavis & Butthead. It still makes me laugh every time I catch an episode on TV.

"Settle down, Beavis."

my friends and I use to get home late at night after a night of drinking and whatever and watch bevis and butthead on their satellite dish (yeah it was one in the yard that had to be turned to east, west, north, south, with a shite ton of different stations).

One of my friends could actually do corn holio perfect, I could act out butthead, and another friend sounded just like beavis when he wanted to.

Yeah it was a great talent to have. By the way we have all married, two of use have kids, and we all have good jobs with lots of man toy to play with.

Beavis and Butthead was an iconic show that helped to shape american youth for years to come, I even let my 12 yr old watch my dvd's (yes I have all the old episodes and some unreleashed ones on DVD).

i never liked the show, but i liked the movie. it seemed only the losers/outcasts growing up really connected with the show. I wasn't in that grouping

Man I am nothing as you described. I love me some bevis & butthead. Brings back memories of my drunken days in college. Hell my 11 year old son now watches it and laughs his arse off just like I do.

I agree with your point, but Idiocracy is no a classic. It's an incredibly bad film, made even worse because it comes from Judge.

My 66 year old father loves it. He's always talking about it.

And he thought Bevis & Butthead was the dumbest shite ever when I was a teen. When I told him they were made by the same guy he didn't believe me.

Everyone I know loves it. On that Carolla podcast he was saying that to make the show "arse" (the show inside the movie that people always watch), they actually made a 5 minute show that was showing a guy's arse the whole time. A lot of the extras were juvenile delinquents from some facility and he said they really were laughing hard (unironically) at it. Life, imitating art, imitating life.

I was a fan. It ran throughout my middle school/high school and college years. Overall, I like South Park better but Beavis and Butthead was great as well. The video commentaries were the best but some of the actual cartoons were good too.

The funniest scene ever was when B & B make photo copies of dollar bills and quarters and try to use the copies as counterfeit money to buy nachos at the mini mart:

Clerk: "That'll be $3 dollars"

Beavis and Butthead: gives the clerk xeroxed copies of dollar bills and cut out coins

Clerk: freaks out and threatens to call the cops.

Butthead: slides an extra copy of a dollar bill to the clerk in an attempt to bribe him and says "Perhaps you'd like to reconsider?"
