Few things, Rey was a boring character after the first movie but your description says a lot about you also you are aware she’s not gay and even if she was it had no bearing on the problems with the sequels

I usually have a 4 class load on a MWF routine and do my research days Tuesday and Thursday. Every semester isn’t alway the same classes. My masters is in linguistics and my bachelors is in political science. I’ll just give an example for some things I could be given this semester I have English 1102, political philosophy of the modern age, advanced linguistics, and ethics in journalism.

I feel like with the MCU everything is just of a mess in the sense that we don’t know who is on the Avengers or feel like what’s the endgame.
They stretched themselves too far, honestly should have followed it up with another avengers movies or some sort of movies so the audience can get an idea of where everyone is. R

Okay, that’s cool. I assume your research is related to linguistics or PS?
Btw, I was hoping you were doing a Matt Berry and teaching Grifting 101.

So far me and my team have published 5 papers with me as first author on 3 of them, my TA and research assistant until recently as first author on one for her doctorate, and an impressive undergrad I liked and wanted to help get a leg up.
All of it is related to politics. Strictly speaking I’m a political linguistics, meaning more or less the study of how language is used to shape political realities of the day and in history as well as incorporating a wide variety of philosophical concepts as foundations. A lot of our stuff as a outwardly conservative research team is interested in the most effective message or communications for our modernity stricken age to get the results we want or looking into the potential psychological differences between political identifications on the 8 way identifier. For instance our most recent publication involved empathy measurement across self identified political ideologies using a heat map in a fairly complicated experiment involving allocation of 50 alotted points among 25 categories each one going further out from the individual. So 1. Was your spouse and children 2. Parents and siblings 3. Extended family aunts uncles cousins etc 4. Local community all the way to 25 being rocks in space

The general outcome in brief because I’m not about to retype my paper lol was more or less what the hypothesis I had would be. It can’t simply be broken down to conservative this liberals that as we used an 8 way identifier with a double approach of self identification and a 50 question political identification survey.
But in general terms the more conservative one was they tended to put almost all 50 points in the first 1-6 groups with 6 being the people in your state, but mostly it all centered and ended with local community.
The more “leftist” one was they were far far far more likely to have a very evenly distributed heat map with an alarming amount putting more points in the worlds environment than their own parents or brothers or sisters.

What was the hypothesis for why left focused on even distribution or further reaching points? What within their political ideology would correlation with this?
Posted on 8/15/24 at 6:07 pm to ThoseGuys
I’m working with a friend of mine from college who is a behavioral psychologist to try to get an answer to that. That paper just got out of peer review and into distribution a month ago. I could offer opinions of mine on why it is that way, but im a biased commentator and in research you never should use your preconceived conjecture even if it outwardly might appear in line with the outcome of the experiment as confirmation of that conjecture.

That is, assuming this is intended to be unbiased and objective the results wouldn’t be interpreted through any particular lens. Perhaps empathy towards the worlds environment isn’t a wrong answer.

I’m a professional. I don’t allow bias or my own options and conjecture to interfere with my research. After all I don’t go through the considerable hassle of getting funding via endowment if Georgia Southern won’t fund it which they often don’t as they hate conservatives unless I want to know the truth of the matter. You can’t accurately put to use whatever truth you find if you actively seek to find the truth you want. It’s what progressives do incessantly and I’m not about that
And it’s not that they care about the environment nothing wrong with that. It’s that they care more about than their parents and siblings

Second, that statement is weighing their responses versus your values.

You were alarmed that respondents had more empathy to world environment than personal environment. Scientifically speaking neither is right or wrong.

If you want to view it from that much of a distanced perspective I’d agree. It’s more of a moral dilemma to me
To me on the surface at least it conjures up thoughts of maos red guard and that is what alarmed me. Is that justified from the findings? Idk yet as I said I’m working with my roommate from college whose a behavioral psychologist. Is it reasonable to have those mental connections? I believable so

I’m not saying you can’t have your own thoughts on it, I was just confused at first since the results wouldn’t include your personal morals as a judging mechanism.
