they were easy money making nostalgia plays
and then they started changing them.
I’ve never been into them
but i would go see a Live Action Toy Story.
Coco would be cool too. Live Action land of the dead would be cool to see

Also said i refuse to watch this movie.
If you really paid attention youd know the only disney remake ive watched is beauty and the beast.
But much like the others on this board and the guy above me said. Saying a movie is prolly bad and you wont see it makes you a disney defender lol
Talk about back peddling from your tone in the leadup to release.

True. It was the laziest, cheesiest, least imaginative line ever. But it worked, financially (for a time).
The danger here: Disney is a nostalgia brand, particularly from the mid-1990s on. They have turned off a sizeable chunk of families - whose children would be the next generation of customers. This focus on the (no offense, I love everyone) quirky, childless Disney "adults" and pursuing a particular progressive ideology has walled them off from these families and their children. Now, and going forward, it will not necessarily be the dream of the average, middle-class kid to grow up and bring his or her children to the Disney parks.
If the parks stop making money, it is all over for DIS. They've been able to subsidize the abject financial failure that has been their acquisition of Lucasfilm with park revenue. They were making easy money with the MCU through 2019. It has been a much tougher slog since then. They are now hit and miss (instead of guaranteed hit) even with animated films.
They foolishly got into the streaming wars instead of leveraging their position and incredible IP catalogue to use the streamers as a revenue source (without all the hassle and hard work). The future is not bright for the company. The succession from Iger to whomever will be the most critical in the company's history.
The deterioration of their live action remakes is merely a symptom of this. Surprisingly, Mufasa (a pretty "meh" film by all accounts) had some legs and will return some cash. Long-term, it will add nothing to the brand and, like all of these, risked damaging the Lion King brand (which is emblematic of the Disney Renaissance of the 90s).
But, they will shake the trees and see what else they can try to extract the last bit of juice from, long-term consequences be damned.
Just a taste:
Lilo and Stitch - 2025
Moana - 2026
Hercules, Robin Hood, The Aristocats, Bambi and Tangled all in various states of production, expected to dribble out, 1 to 2 per year through about 2030.

Anyone that brings a shred of intellectual honesty to this board gets shunned by the permanently online crowd.
If you dont say this is the worst movie ever made and it is gonna lose a billion dollars you are just a disney defender.
Let me guess, anyone who disagrees with you is "intellectually dishonest." Objectively, this movie has always looked like it was gonna suck. The star sucks, the story sucks, Disney sucks. Make a faithful Snow White movie, that includes seven mf'ing dwarves, and the money machine would go brrrr. Instead, you get a not-so-snowy-white lead with a huge attitude problem and a movie with liberal crap as the plot. Garbage in, garbage out, this movie was a bomb from the start.

They did a pretty good job in 1937. If u wanna watch a faithful snow white movie its available.
If u dont care for this movie just dont go see it. Its not that hard. I haven't gone to a theater in 7 years

When they’ve leaned on nostalgia they’ve at least had moderate success, but Snow White they went completely off the rails
the issue with Disney Plus is that they decided to pump insane amounts of money into original content.
I would have paid for it for just the Disney/Pixar/Star Wars/Marvel catalogs plus disney chanel shows.
I think their biggest issue is they’ve taken a “a little something for everyone” approach while giving all of these project budgets that require mass appeal to make money.
There was an audience for the acolyte and this version of Snow White.
just not one big enough to make back that budgets

We don't reside in 1937, we're talking about the 2025 version. Nor were we debating our personal theater habits. Try to stay on topic, which is this Snow White movie and the fact that it's a giant turd, as predicted.

Nope, I don't watch Disney princess movies. Not in my wheelhouse. But we don't really need to see it to know it sucks, right? Surely you are able to read about a shite sandwich without needing to take a bite.

I doubt it is good, but to know something i have to watch it.
Without watching it im just assuming i wont enjoy it. And thats good enough for me.

If your interest in this movie doesn't go past your own nose why do you come in these threads to argue?

Do your math for the new netflix movie The Electric State. Explain to Netflix how it makes sense to make a movie with a $300 million budget and release it for free.
Since when was Netflix free you fricking moron?

Disney+ costs more so unless Disney doesnt plan on putting Snow White on there after its theater run your subscription cost point is moot.
Snow White cost 270 million. Will make 300+ million in theaters.
Electric State cost 300 million. Will make 0 dollars up front.
Netflix understands the businesss better than you and they know both movies make sense financially.

From your article.
Thanks for pointing out that Disney's investments are now showing a profit.
