It's kind of annoying Disney took the Solo box office hit as a sign that we want less star wars and didnt take the hint from TLJ that we just dont want SHITTY star wars.
I hope McGregor comes back as Kenobi whether it's a series or not.

episodes.
The Kenobi project was initially supposed to be a film, as had been reported several times over the last few years, but everything changed after the disappointing box office performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story. We were told that the Kenobi film was actually supposed to start production shortly after Solopremiered, and then everything changed. This certainly puts much more clarity on that famous Bob Iger “rethinking our approach” statement from last year.

Perhaps the most talked about and rumor-fueled wishlist item among Star Wars fans and media has been an Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone project. Well it sounds like that wish may have finally come true, but not how we envisioned it.
We were told that an Obi-Wan Kenobi limited TV series is happening, is the next top priority for the Disney+ streaming service, and that it could be as many as six episodes.

This also may explain why Ewan McGregor was at the Solo premiere, as they may have expected an announcement for a Kenobi film to come soon thereafter. His stock replies to interview questions aside, Ewan McGregor has been on board with returning as Kenobi since day one.
I’ll be the first to admit I never would have imagined a Kenobi project being a TV series, as I find it hard enough to fill a two-hour movie with what old hermit Ben Kenobi could be doing during the time he is supposed to be in exile, but here we are.

I have no doubt that they will give Kenobi the stage and treatment he deserves, as this could potentially be one of the first Star Wars projects since The Force Awakens that all fans can unite around, especially after hearing the “script is GREAT.”

There is no confirmation on whether or not an announcement of the series is imminent, or that it will be announced at Star Wars Celebration, though if it is in good standing that would make sense – and although there are many “TV series” rumors out there right now, we are told this one is happening and will go into production. We can get into speculation on what it will be about, who will be in it, or who may be returning later. As always, we will update you if we learn more details about the project, but it is a good time to be a Star Wars fan. Thanks for reading!

I'm sick of Star Wars at this point. Has there ever been more hype over a 2 very good movies 2 ok movies and 4 absolute garbage movies?
Very over it.
Very over it.

This definitely deserves it's own thread. You know Ewan will be down to play the role. Phenomenal news if it proves to be true.

I don’t want a fricking tv show. Release a damn movie. Less is more.

6 episodes is good enough. There's actually a LOT they can do with a Kenobi story. If they have 6 roughly 1 hour episodes....that would be more than satisfying enough.

that is my preference. I would much prefer to see a series for a character like kenobi or solo. You could do a lot more character development that way. If they do the production value like an HBO series, then it would definitely be worth it.

No.
I want to experience this in a Dolby theater. TV shows have compromises that I don't want in Star Wars. It isn't Game of Thrones. I don't want BS side plots that TV shows require. Which is why I have no interest in watch that Clone Wars and Rebels show. That and also I'm not a kid anymore.

Solo would have been much better as a limited series. More character development would have given Alden Ehrenreich a fighting chance to overcome the fact that he's not Harrison Ford. If the first two thirds of the movie was more fleshed out it would have made the ending far more satisfying. Specifically his life before he escaped his planet and then when he's with the first incarnation of Woody Harrelson's gang. Those two parts felt rushed compared to the way the rest of the movie was paced.

How does turning a 2 hour movie into a show that will span several more hours equal less Star Wars?

Set aside $3k for a decent 7:1 in-home system and you'll be good to go.

I have doubts about anything Star Wars
And a Kenobi story, on TV, probably without Ewan, I have major reservations about

Disney will probably turn Kenobi into a lefthanded green-eyed gay black woman at this point

We do.
As long as Disney is in charge. They've proven to be totally incompetent.
Let the saga die a dignified death. It's time to put away the toys and move on.

yeah, it was really unclear why he was there, who those people were, etc.

I want Ewan McGregor. If it’s not him I won’t watch it

I'm actually okay with this. As bad as I would want a Kenobi movie in theaters, I don't see them doing it justice with the way Solo turned out.

I think my issue with the whole thing is that Disney assumed Solo didnt perform well because of Solo and not because of TLJ.

Kenobi was the best thing of the Prequels. So yeah give me more McGregor.

They don't get it. Star Wars is my thing, but it has been mortally wounded. A well-done Kenobi movie would have been the last gleam of light in the franchise's dying eyes.

How do you conclude “probably without Ewan” from this?

If there is to be a live-action Kenobi series/movie, Ewan McGregor will be the actor portraying the character.
