Good move on their part and pretty great timing IMO. I know more than a few of us have every Disney animated feature on our home media servers.

Disney is rapidly preparing to launch its own streaming service, dubbed Disney+, later this year. While the debut date is still unknown, we now know that the service will include the entire Disney movie library shortly after the service launches. According to a report in Polygon, Disney CEO Bob Iger explained the strategy to investors at a meeting in St. Louis, Mo., pointing at the retirement of Disney's longstanding "vault."

"The service... is going to combine what we call library product, movies, and television, with a lot of original product as well, movies and television," Iger said. "And at some point fairly soon after launch it will house the entire Disney motion picture library, so the movies that you speak of that traditionally have been kept in a 'vault' and brought out basically every few years will be on the service. And then, of course, we’re producing a number of original movies and original television shows as well that will be Disney-branded."

If they did this, they could charge $40 a month and we'd just go ahead and cancel Netflix and Hulu at my house.

It's probably going to be at least 15-20/month. I'm not sure I really see them going higher than that.

I wonder if this is where all Star Wars and Marvel movies will now be exclusively streamed as well. I'm assuming so.

have you seen what Disney has done to StarWars.

They are not going to produce anything to the likes of Daredevil and The Punisher.

The Disney Star Wars TV shows have been great. Other than TLJ, the movies have also been solid. I understand being out on the movies, I am too, but the shows have been worth the time.

But Disney won’t have nearly as much original content on Netflix, which offers upwards of 700 originally-produced titles. That factor is acknowledged with a lower price for Disney’s streaming service, which will cost less than Netflix’s $8-$14 monthly streaming fee, Iger said.

This was back in August so maybe a little more than that now.
