RUN DMC’s Rev Run brings us along for a hip-hop reimagining of The Nutcracker ballet set in New York City. It’s the night of the annual New Year’s Eve Block Party and Maria-Clara’s (Caché Melvin) Mom and Pop (Allison Holker Boss and Stephen “tWitch” Boss) aren’t getting along — and it’s bringing her down. Maria-Clara embarks on a holiday adventure to bring her parents back together, finding help along the way from the magical toymaker, Drosselmeyer (Comfort Fedoke), and the Nutcracker (Du-Shant “Fik-shun” Stegall) who she brings to life.

Does anyone get shot in the parking lot of a Bojangles in this adaptation?

No issues. They've made it clear in the title that this isn't the actual Nutcracker... just a retarded re-imagining.

Honestly, I hate the Nutcracker with the passion of a thousand suns, and I didn't think it was possible to get me to hate it more than I already did, but this does it.

This seems like something network television would have done in the mid-late 90s. And for that alone I kind of like it. D+ does seem to be trying to their best to capture that vibe of the “Special Presentation” in the 80s and 90s that got families around the tv, especially for the holidays. Werewolf By Night had that same feel.

Am I supposed to be pissed about the bastardization of 1890's ballet or the decline of 80's rap?

Looks like a show Bill Murray's character would be running from the movie Scrooged.

I think Frank Cross’ ideas are what inspired Michael Bay.

I've always found the nutcracker to be a terrible bore so this might actual spice it up a bit.

My mom took me to see it when I was a teenager, and I just couldn't make it through. I had to walk out. I've never been more bored in my fricking life than that and I just couldn't deal with it.

I listen to the Tchaikovsky nutcracker suite every year during the holidays but have never seen the ballet.
