Disney is revisiting its 1963 animated fantasy The Sword in the Stone, putting into development a live-action remake.

Bryan Cogman, a writer-producer on HBO’s fantasy Game of Thrones, has been tapped to pen the script for the project, which will be produced by Brigham Taylor.

Stone, the final movie released before Walt Disney’s death, told of a young King Arthur who is being mentored by Merlin.

The feature is loosely based on the T.H. White’s novel of the same name, which later became part of White’s multi-book Arthurian fantasy The Once and Future King.

Taylor, a former production exec at Disney, is producing the studio’s live-action version of The Jungle Book, Jon Favreau’s remake of its 1967 animated movie.

I forgot about this movie. I used to love it as a little guy. I think I'm going to go to amazon right now and buy a copy for my baby nephew. He has a birthday coming up.

Great movie, probably my favorite of the older DIsney stuff.

I like that it didn't take itself too seriously.

I wonder if it'll have all the racism of the original.

I had the Disney pop-up Album when the movie was in the theaters.

There's literally nothing in the original that could be construed in any way as racist.

Unless the fact that it is devoid of any racial stereotypes actually makes it racist

Really? It's probably in my top five all time for Disney movies. Always loved that one.

How can you not like the wizard battle?

That movie sucked and was short. I keep waiting for him to be KING Arthur and he pulled the sword out of the stone, every one kneels...

That's it?

HOw did he earn his place in history? He simply pull a sword from a stone? What about Lancelot and the Guinevere betrayal! Come on, give us something better!

Based on Cinderella, this could be really good.

That's a different story altogether.
