Absolutely loved this movie. Sat there and listed to the score during the credits just trying to process it.

I loved the first 80% of the movie but I thought it ran out of gas at the end. I appreciated that it wasn't overrun with terrible CGI. Should have been made 20 years ago as I believe most people these days would not even believe released footage and think it was AI, not real. Thus continuing the cycle.

richard dryfuss character was just an A-hole dead beat dad.
What a stupid comment.
The character played by Richard Dreyfus was as far from a "deadbeat dad" as could be. He was a loving, caring dad and husband who had a good job with the power company, and was dedicated enough to go out to work in the middle of the night when the aliens were screwing up the power grid.
The alien encounter messed him up mentally, like all the others with recent encounters, with imagery of Devil's Tower that heavily imprinted in their brains.
His craziness caused by the aliens led his wife to take the kids and leave HIM, not the other way around.

I kinda liked the first 80% of the movie, but I thought that the end was ridiculous.
And, then, after some reflection, nothing in the movie ended up making any sense at all.
Edit: I give it 2.5 out of 5 stars. It's not a terrible way to spend two hours of your time.

Granted, I don’t see many movies, but I was bored through much of the movie, thought many parts were dumb, and the ending, unforgivably bad.

It was OK, aside from the ending, which was lazy and weak. Overall, I didn’t hate the movie, but I wouldn’t watch it again.

I enjoyed it. I thought the first 2 acts were quite good. The 3rd was the weakest part of the film. Emily Blunt was great

It was just OK and then the end made it worse. Too much suspension of disbelief required.

Spoilers
There's no way the public would believe the images of aliens uploaded to network TV were real. Me, sitting in the movie theater knows that the images I'm watching are fake, so if I saw similar images on network TV why would I believe them? And why is the news anchor so emotional? We see freakier stuff on Twitter a hundred times a day. Spielberg really showing his age. Nobody trusts the news anymore, Walter Cronkite is long dead. At least trot out the President to confirm it or something. The only "disclosure" everyone would believe at the same time would be an alien mothership appearing over every major city in the world.

Very meh at best.
Take out 90% of the unnecessary freaking out by people and the movies only 90 minutes and much more enjoyable. The ending would still suck though.
Omg i dont know whats happening.
5 min later omg omg whats happening.
3 min later omg omg omg omg i dont understand whats happening!
Geez man. We get it. You dont understand whats happening to you. Either stop acting on it and stfu, or keep acting on it and stfu.
The dumbest part of the whole movie. Oh our weather girl went full psychotic episode on live tv and then disappeared for a day or 6... but shes back and wants to go take over the network to play these flash drives. Let her in and do whatever she says! Its video from a flash drive!

They weren't just being nice. There's a pretty important detail that allows her in and gives her influence...

Ah yes the aliens with mind control that also just let the humans experiment on them to guilt us into having " empathy". Silly me

Man all you guys that think everything needs to be "realistic" and pick everything to death just kill me.
Ya"ll realize lightsabers are absurd right?

Saw it last night. Had high hopes for this one but man that was pretty rough.
I thought the first hour was ok despite some really cheesy car chase and an even worse train crash scene, but I could look over that because it had a Spielberg feel to it. But my god the story tanked so hard the last half of the movie and so many points became just nonsensical and unimportant.
I didn't care for it. Mrs. Iwy despised it. I was laughing because she was roasting the movie the entire way home.
Feel bad that Emily Blunt wasted a really good performance on that movie. She should probably get some recognition but I doubt she will because the movie was so mid.
We were legit looking at each other and laughing at some of the dumb stuff happening. Way too many roll your eyes moments.

The lead anchor was some of the worst acting I've seen in a movie in quite a while. Just writing that to be an emotional scene was very dumb but she certainly didn'tpull it off. So every single person that is watching this just 100% buys into it immediately and is just completely aghast at the way aliens have been treated and are brought to tears? They should have ended the movie with Emily Blunt introducing the footage. Boom, you decide how everyone will react, not try and tell us that the entire world will buy into this right away because it's on the news.
And the anti alien agency were probably the most useless buch of guys ever assembled.I guess their job is to show up and just let people get away. I was going to pull my hair out if they showed up one more time with 50 guys and in the dumbest way possible they got away with ease.
CGI was so bad. Was kind of baffled that a Spielberg movie looked that bad. The train scene being especially bad.
And Emily Blunt as a "passenger" was just completely dub too. I guess if they say she's a passenger they make people think it's a deep storyline or something.

In the real world? Yes.
However, textually, contextually and even sub-textually they make perfect sense.
Disclosure Day isn’t a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

This is at 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and I'm kind of baffled how. 70% popcorn meter, whatever that is.
6.7/10 on IMDB. That seems a bit more in line.
