It’s supposed to be Christmas Eve. So why are Notre Dame and USC playing football? According to the ‘88 schedule, that game was Nov. 26.

And if I remember right, its def daylight at the game and its night in LA... hmmm

Something I’ve always wondered too. Pretty obvious mistake. Now had he not said “I’ve got $50 bucks on those guys” we could have guessed it was just a replay he was watching, but Carl Winslow would have known the game wasn’t live and he was lying.

I’m not sure if you know this, but Die Hard is make believe.

McClane had to drop a body onto his car to get his attention so we already knew he was kind of oblivious.

Most likely because one of the producers was a fan of one of those two teams and decided they wanted a snippet from the game in the movie.

Dude was worried about his wife who was about to give birth, and also worried about what Steve Urkel would frick up in his house while he was gone.

Real shite. Tough to focus on football when your youngest daughter is upstairs filming porn and that menace Urkel was likely to crash a frickin Wagoneer through your living room wall while a Bruce Lee clone version of himself runs roughshod through your house.

I was actually at that game!

2nd CFB game I ever saw live. It was #1 vs. #2.

Basically won Notre Dame the National Championship as they kicked USC's arse. And yeah, the game was during the day, tailgated at noon.

It's probably included in the movie because it was the biggest game of the year in 1988 and moviegoers would recognize it since the movie takes place in L.A.

Plus the movie industry is full of USC George Lucas School of Film grads and if they wanted to put in a game that would be the obvious choice.

The average moviegoer doesn't know the CFB regular season ends a month before Christmas.

I remember noticing that also when I watched Die Hard as a 12 year old in the theaters in AUGUST.

Seems like Look Who's Talking does the same thing where they are watching a CFB game and the actor says something about it being the "playoffs"

Didn't this movie come out before that game was even played?

He wouldn't have to worry if Stefan Urquelle was actually around that day.

In Rambo..

When they bring him into the police station, there is a decoration on the front desk that says "Merry Christmas".

Rambo is also a Christmas film.

Except that dude was liable to impregnate his daughter Laura, his Sister in Law Rachel, and possibly bang his promiscuous mother Estelle. I mean, who could resist Stefan!? He's Urkel without glasses and with good posture for fricks sake!!

So not only is Die Hard a Christmas and Harry Potter movie, but it’s a Thanksgiving movie too.
