I'm sure it didn't help but supposedly there were concerns about future lawsuits so all of McDonald's recent shift to have healthier options too was equivalent to what Goodell is doing to the Saints. Also, American preferences are changing, just look at the growth of places like Whole Foods.

If I remember correctly, I believe one of the points made in Fat Head was that drinking a giant coke with your meal three times a day was as bad, if not worse, than any of the actual food in an all fast-food diet.

ding ding ding
the real killer here is the sugar/insulin spike at work. anyone drinks a 40oz coke 3x a day will gain MASSIVE amounts of weight.

I know McDonalds did away with super sizing
they did? ETA: I see they did away with "Super Size", but they still have larger sizes and you can upsize a meal.
To answer the OP. No, they did not because of this doc, there has been a movement in the direction of more healthy foods before and indepently of SSM. Its not like he uncovered something no one was aware of, but overall that doc is a very misleading smear campaign.

the whole idea of this documentary is dumb.
Plenty of people have done As Long As it Fits Your Macros with tons of fast food and were absolutely fine

has anyone ever thought about the whole process that mcdonalds has to deliver a mcdouble to you for $1? Its pretty amazing that they can hand you a burger in a bag with napkins for 1$.
yeah i know they dont make anything on it and expect that you will buy more stuff off the menu, but its still an amazing feat IMHO.

yes, it really is amazing and i bet they do make, at least a little. The efficencies of the free market are pretty amazing.
Funny that companies like McDonalds and WalMart that make things cheaper for people are villified by the left.

Yes, its not an option anymore

They dropped it like a week after the doc came out, you do the math.
While i agree it was sensationalism and didnt prove anything, I do believe it made McDonalds cave on little things like the supersize, because of the media firestorm
This documentary did

was unawre they changed that, pussies, but there are still upsize options maybe not called "Super size", or as large as the old Super size.

if they did it that soon, it was probably in the works before the movie came out. Just means they were caving to pressure, of which the doc was just part. But other fst food outlets still have obnoxious large sizes, kinda shows the hypocricy of the political left imo, they hate certain companies.

They were losing money when they did the double cheeseburger for a buck, which is why the mcdouble was introduced. 2 pieces of cheese was causing a loss. Burger King had the same issue. They offered their double cheeseburger for a buck and all of the franchisees bitched because they were losing their asses. Not sure what they replaced theirs with since I can't eat at BK due to the service.

I think BK moved it up to $1.50.

I think the McDouble has also moved to $1.19 or $1.29 at many Mcdonald's.

I agree the movie was over the top but also agree with some of the premise.
Fast food portions, and portions in general, are probably twice the size they were 40 years ago. As humans, we're programmed to finish what's in front of us... so we gulp down most of a day's calories in one value meal comprised largely of sugar, fat, sodium, and starch.
To me, the movie was good to show people this absurdity. I know he was trying for more than that... and there he failed a bit.

quote:It's not just you. I say the same thing all the time. Also, the service sucks. There are times you pull up to the speaker, and have to ask if the person is on the other end because no such thing as "may I help you" anymore. I guess that's going out on a limb and being overly nice by today's standards.
I don't know if it's where I live now, or the fact that I am older, but I feel like the quality of food, particularly at McDonalds, has gone downhill a bunch.

Go watch "Fathead" and see actual facts cited independently.
GREAT documentary. The fact the Spurlock REFUSED to release his food logs should have been a big enough red flag for people to discredit him. Of course, it feels like 90% of the people believe the first thing they see about an issue online/TV/movies , regardless if it has actual facts cited or not

I wish he'd have just eaten it once a day and continued to workout and do everything else normally to see what kind of effects it had. Of course if you only eat fast food and don't ever move off the couch except to get more fast food you're going to kill yourself.
This is kind of what Fat Head was about. Except he ate fast food at every meal and limited carb intake to 100g/day, and walked 4-5 miles a day.
