Lithgow is kind of memorable so you'd think that Batista may remember him standing in the office...but maybe not.
I can't imagine that a cop like Bautista won't remember that Trinity was standing in their friggin squad room.

If I remember right, Bautista was walking up from behind Trinity, and nodded to Dexter and kept walking. He never looked right at Trinity.

Now surely they have him on camera in the station though

My biggest thing is what if it wasn't trinity at all. He never killed anyone out of his pattern. How did he know he was found like that when he was younger? Did he tell trinity?

he killed Kyle Butler.

When they were talking about families and how Dexter was the same as Trinity, Lithgow said that it didn't matter now because it was "over". I had a feeling then that something somehow was gonna go down with Dex's family but didn't see it with Rita till the voicemail.

The baby in the blood was totally a coincidence. In the after show talk, Dex/Trinity talked about how Arthur didn't know anything about Dex childhood but there was a connection mentally between them.

The feds won't be looking at Dex for this, no getting rid of Rita's body, that wouldn't fit with the show. Next season will pick up 3-6 months after with things cleared up from this but new challenges coming Dex's way. Rage/guilt over Rita Im sure but Deb knows something, she is so damn dimwitted though that it will take her time

Not only that, but as someone else pointed out they didn't have Lithgow's picture at that point. It's a stretch to assume that Batista will remember Lithgow's face. I don't think that will end up being much of an issue

The only reason most people can accept Dexter as a protagonist is because he A) only kills people who deserve it, B) has been steadily gaining some elements of human emotion, C) has a sympathetic element because of his own childhood, and D)is at least attempting to control his "dark passenger".

Which, to be honest, is the only real thing I prefer about the first book over the series. In it, Dex was COLD. He refered to everyone else as humans. Rita was nothing to him...simply camo. I've really hate the Riat charatcer in the show because there's NO WAY Dex from the first novel would have put up with her BS this long. He'd have simply found more agreeable cover and been done with the needless drama he didn't understand anyway.

On a different not, I wish they'd have had more time to delve into just how fricked up Arthr had been with his family. I got the impression that there was something sexual going on with him and the daughter, given how coldly the mother seemed to act towards the daughter at Thanksgiving and how quickly she was willing to service Dex saying how she knew what men liked. Also, the reporter daughter seemed to have somoe unnatural attachment to the dad, and we all know that her relationship with Quinn was about nothing but sex. Maybe that was just me reading that in...but I thought for sure we'd hear about something like that.

Yeah, that girl definitely had to be sexually abused by Arthur.

Yeah Dex is definitely about to be put under the microscope again. Quinn already thinks he's a good-for-nothing shitbag. In the span of 24 hours or so, Dex punched out Quinn, got arrested for fleeing the scene of an accident and being unruly to an officer, miraculously appeared at Trinity's house before the other cops, and found his wife murdered with Trinity's MO. Quinn will probably be pushing to investigate Dex while the rest of the station tries to have his back.

For the record, Quinn is no Doakes.
quinn only mad at him cause he got caught stealing a crime scene's money and pocketing it....dex got that on him and besids deb is quinn's partner so...

on a lighter note....its funny when they say CUT!!!!! and work is over and dex and deb go home and frick!..lol...yeah they married for all that didnt know....

My wife thought the biggest plothole was Rita returning back to the house to get her ID. Wouldn't she just leave the baby in the carseat in the taxi and run in and out of the house real quick to get it?

I have had this exact hang up with the series. I read the books a long time ago and was disappointed with how the show humanized Dexter. I understand why they did it; his character wouldn't have nearly the same appeal if they didn't change him.

The book Dexter was an emotionless monster. He could feel nothing, absolutely nothing. Feelings of love and happiness for his family never would have happened. It was all an act, every interaction that he had with another human being.

Do you think Rita knew the truth about Dexter before she died? I guess it seems unlikely since Trinity hadn't really figured him out.

She was dead before he went to the mechanic. He killed her while Dexter was at Trinity's house. She said in her message that she got to the airport and had to come back. That wouldnt take that long. Trinity killed Rita and then went to the mechanic and left town.

Nope. I wondered that at first...whether Trinity told Rita was Dex was, but he had no idea until he was on Dex's table. He still thought he was a cop who was shaking him down.

It wasn't until he was in Dex's kill room that he knew what the shot was.

I need to rewatch it, but I think Rita planned to take another flight the next day.

"I forgot my ID for the plane. So I'm zooming home for it. Means we'll be on a later puddle jumper, but we'll still be there waiting for you."
-Rita

That's somewhat of a plothole, but maybe the flight was a good bit later? Either way, only a mother would notice that.

I don't think so, or else Dexter would have been immediately alerted to the possibility that Rita was in the house or still somewhere in town. But he didn't act that way. He just casually redialed her to talk to her normally.

That's the only explanation - that the flight was a lot later.

When I heard Harrison crying, I knew what had happened. When I saw him sitting in the bloody water, my heart just froze.

That was one of the most shocking and sad endings. I literally had problems getting to sleep after watching.

When I was younger, it would not have bothered me very much. Now that I have children, that stuff just pulls my heart out. I can't watch Trainspotting because of the infant scene.
