Not sure how popular it is here but anyway. A really good movie. Great setting, especially their neighborhood. Also great soundtrack. One of my favorites. 8/10.

Great movie
Joey: whispers to Dennis "do forts got carpet?"
Dennis: no
Joey: yells at Margaret "FORTS DON'T GOT CARPET!"
That entire scene of them at the fort with Margaret is great.
The kid who played Joey was great with his facial expressions and reactions.
I love when they are nailing things and he's getting nervous before Dennis is about to hammer his hand into oblivion and he moves it at the last second and Dennis hits the nail and Joey breathes a sigh of relief.

Not a big comedy fan but this one is in my top 10 favorites of all types of movies.
Saw it when it hit the theater and almost pissed my pants laughing. Dennis shooting the pill down Mr. Wilson's throat, the scene when Dennis popped the spoon full of bubbling beans into Christopher Lloyd's mouth and of course the finale with the hot marshmallow ....

Tastes like paint and wood.

I still remember my dad losing it when Mr Wilson smiled after Dennis repaired his dentures with Chiclets.

I loved watching the series on Nickelodeon back in the day. I thought the movie was a good adaption of the series and the comic strip.

For sure. That gif posted above of him eating the apple with a knife always gave me a very uneasy feeling when I watched it as a kid.

I saw it in theaters when I was a kid and remember thinking it was just ok. It was a little too cornball...not on the level of classics like Home Alone, Sandlot, or other kids movies at the time.

Same, I thought this movie sucked when I saw it as a kid and haven’t watched it since. I remember it getting a lot of hype too. Doesn’t touch Angels in the Outfield, Little Big League, The Sandlot, any of the Ernest movies, etc.

The 40something demo seems very nostalgic about kiddie movies
I'm slightly older and have no nostalgia at all for kiddie stuff from when I was a preteen (late '70s)
For one thing it didn't really exist, aside from Disney. And most of their shows/movies emphasized the adults, not the kids.
But '80s and '90s kids bring this stuff up all the time

Yeah, b/c they were good movies.
Am i not supposed to like movies like the Sandlot, Rookie of the Year, Little Big League, Dennis the Menace, The Little Rascals, The Little Giants, Home Alone, 3 Ninjas, The Goonies, Karate Kid, The Big Green, Angels in the Outfield, Richie Rich, The Mighty Ducks, Heavyweights, Hook, Blank Check, Free Willy, Frist Kid, Casper, Honey I shrunk the Kids, I even liked Matilda, and I'm not a girl.
My kids have watched all of those movies and they also like them.
My youngest could recite and reenact 3 Ninjas he's seen it so many times.
You just don't see kids movies like that anymore. You had the Lion King and Toy Story come out in the mid 90's and have huge success and it's been animated ever since when it comes to movies targeted for kids.

we long for when Hollywood made movies for fun for audiences they didn't actively dislike.
