Fantastic fricking show.
Plenty of great older series on HBO MAX that lots of early 20 year olds probably haven’t watched. If you haven’t watched Rome, watch it next. It’s only two seasons, but it’s also outstanding IMO.

Follow this with Spartacus. Another great show.

This show was better than I expected. I watched it a few times and it is very rewatchable.
At first I was not into it but after 3 episodes, I started loving it. Some very good characters in there.

I loved this show from the first 5 mins.

Some people don't like the final season and I say they suck cock by choice. It ended the only way it could have ended. No spoilers folks.
But you anti-season 3 folks are a bunch of hoopleheads. My only problem with season 3 is the larger cast took time away from some of the side characters.
I’m not anti S3 at all, but it was disappointing though.
But the whole show is great and the movie is pretty damn solid too. I may rewatch this soon since there have been so many threads about it lately.

When I saw the Teeter character on Yellowstone the first thing I thought of was Jane

I saw the show mentioned in another thread so, i started watching. I didn’t realize how old the show was. Guess it should have been obvious. I knew Powers Boothe died quite a while back.

It premiered during season 5 of Sopranos after EP3. A friend of mine told me to watch the premier and I wasn’t really in the mood to see a western but I did and about 10-15 minutes in I was hooked.

I only wish the one guy would have been around longer

People are always asking whats a show they should watch that they've never seen, Deadwood is always in my first 3 recommendations, so fricking good.
There's a moment in season 2 when McShane is laying on a bed with his crew, looks like a renaissance painting
Also fun fact, its written in iambic pentameter akin to Shakespeare

OP asked for no spoilers and I’m not sure if it happened yet during his watch

I don't know why they are asking. It is easy to know who you are talking about.

Absolutely awesome show!
I watched it later as the movie was coming out (13 years after the original series but 10 years in Deadwood time).
I ran through the seasons and am glad I didn't have to wait all that time in between to watch the movie like most Deadwood fans.
Timothy Olyphant is great and Swearengen is still one of my favorite TV characters of all time.

Couldn't wait for him to go.
Just finished the series. but, I'm going to hold off on commenting too much to avoid spoilers.

It has to be one of Wild Bill, Bullock or the Reverend.
Is it a spoiler if it happened in real life?

You having a hard time with no spoilers. How about removing any names.
Posted on 7/23/26 at 5:50 pm to gizmothepug
yes. It is. Second the show is fiction. Some of the departed on the show are not real people. Some are. How about not posting anything that could possibly be a spoiler in a thread labelled NO SPOILERS.
And you are assuming the average American has knowledge of the people from Deadwood. They can't tell you who was President 30 years ago what makes you think they know who lived and died in 1876.
