There was Chappelle's show, then there was Key and Peele, then there is YouTube.
I think the world may have completely moved on from the sketch show TV format, and would rather a weekly release, YouTube Channel/IG Reel instead.

No. It's been too long.

He's changed and the world has changed.

Who cares? There aren’t many good comedies out there anymore so I’d be happy to give it a shot if he does it.

If it sucks ? Oh well. It has no effect on how good the original run was.

I never get why some get upset with things like this. Sure if it’s a reboot that completely disregards the source material and is a reboot in name only, I’d get it.

Problem is, old, scratch-voiced Dave is nowhere near as funny a young, skinny, high-pitched Dave.

this. His sketch show was an all time great when I was in college. He's not the same comedian anymore.

Perfect example. He's too much into politics now. I've seen live twice in his prime and he was great. He's just not the same anymore.

These remakes rarely live up to expectations/the original and are often just a money play with a half-hearted effort.

The original was the right guy in the right show at the right time. Sure, many hated to see it go. But it's probably best to just let it stand on its own rather than potentially tarnish that legacy by trying to recreate something that can't be recreated

Why care about this? You can always watch the episodes that you liked, even if the new show isn't as good.

This was for the gen z generation. This was nowhere near the chappelle show. It's like going from WWF raw is war to WWE with John Cena. I quit once stone cold the rock etc left

Again…how does it tarnish the legacy?

It’s a sketch comedy show, it’s not like rebooting a drama and retconning a bunch of shite that does render the original pointless.

“Man I used to find the Rick James episode hilarious but ever since that reboot I just don’t find it as funny”

Calling a sketch comedy show a "remake" is amazing to me

I've grown to dislike Dave's brand of hacky "whitey bad" race jokes.

thread also goes to show what pussies everyone has become.....the left thinks Dave is right wing due to his views on trans and the right hates him because I guess he's made trump jokes?

There were a lot of jokes in the original run that 100% would be considered DEM shilling and cause melts today.

Is Neal Brennan writing? That is a deal breaker for me

ETA: for those that don't know, Brennan was the co-creator and lead writer on the original series. . .and one of Dave's oldest friends

But they were clever

When Key and Peele did it, it often ended up hamfisted trite scolding (but not always)
