have to say the hate for the new Ghost Busters is pretty ridiculous. Someone say it say it's terrible and expect everything to say the same.

I seen it and I thought it was fine, it's an updated CGI fest of Ghostbuster.

Exactly. I get not everyone like those women, and that's fine. But the belly aching is over the top. There's nothing sacred about Ghostbusters, and of course the casting will be very different. It didn't HAVE to be all women, but the first one didn't HAVE to be all men. They're just trying to breathe some life into an old franchise and I'll at least see it before declaring it bad.

Well, if the film makers were to cast themselves, then yes, they would have HAD to be men. And since it was the 80's, it wouldn't have even mattered if they identified as women, they were 100% dudes.

And do you not see anything wrong with taking the stance of "you should at least spend money to see it before saying you know it will suck". Gosh darn it are we living in a society where we can't spot a piece of shite before being covered in it? This whole thing was by design, either you see it, or you don't.

None of this should be confused with anyone saying YOU shouldn't go see it, but don't just throw the ghostbusters logo on it and call me sexist for thinking it will suck before I have actually seen it.

Yes. I think you should see it before saying it sucks. Seems reasonable to me.

I won't call you sexist. I don't think it's really sexism that's driving the hate. But there is a dramatic hate surrounding this movie all out of proportion to the concept.

Honestly, I kinda agree that the hate is over-the-top.

Haven't we all seen decent films that started with lousy trailers?

However, I'm about 96% sure that Aykroyd is talking out of his arse here.

I cringed when the trailer appeared before Ninja Turtles. I feared Joe Public was going to laugh at the stupid Leslie Jones jokes. I was shocked and proud of the audience who did not let out a single laugh. This was a room full of kids too.

Gonna disagree here;

First: I'm not going to spend movie on a movie unless I think it will be good, AND I want to see it. I'm not obligated to spend money on any movie, I choose to reward the ones I want to like.

Second: Ghostbusters is a bit of a unique brand, kind of like Star Wars (or Star Trek, that's for you Ace Midnight). You can imitate it if you like, but if you want to take the name and slap it on a new movie, you need to respect the original property, and the fans thereof. Or else, expect a lot of backlash and anger.

Same here when I was watching X-men last week. Not a single laugh was uttered at the trailer. I was both surprised and impressed.

What do you expect him to say? He's promoting the movie. Of course it's going to suck

It reminds me of all the older bands who put out albums later in their careers and when they do interviews they almost always say "this is by far the best album I or we've ever done". Right.....
