Which is now the talking point to immunize this (or anything from here on out) from criticism.

In all seriousness...does the studio have ANY responsibility here for my impressions thus far of what they've released? They took a beloved property and stunt casted it, released two objectively terrible trailers, and then proceeded to release members of the entertainment industry to tell us that if we DON'T like it it's because of race or gender issue...and I don't have a reason to be, I don;t know...a little pissed about that?

I mean...do I actually have the ability to dislike this movie or not? I'm asking, because it seems pretty apparent that there is simply not going to be any way someone can criticize this movie without being blasted for it.

Plus Ecto-1 was an old ambulance...not a freaking graveyard taxi

Ecto-1 was, in fact, a Miller-Meteor custom built car, using a 1959 Cadillac professional chassis. It had the combination body, with limo style windows. Could have been used as an ambulance or hearse. Most likely it was built for a rural area and served both functions (because of the limo style windows) for the same service area.

A remake of Barbershop with an all white cast would be terrible, too.

(I can do this all day, folks.)

I don't know if it's a race thing, or a gender thing, but I'm mad as hell.

Luckily we live in a free country, and moviegoers have every right to hate a movie due to race or gender. I support opinions of movies based on true feelings. Down with oppression.

You won't see a single post from me bad mouthing female comics. I've never said women aren't funny. I haven't spent hour upon hour crapping all over Amy Schumer. Don't think I've ever posted in a Melissa McCarthy hatred thread. Thought she was actually somewhat funny in Bridesmaids.

Me hating this movie has nothing to do with women. I didn't like the stunt casting. When you do something like this, more often than not, the writing takes a hit. The studio just gives up on getting a good script and decides to cover it up with stunt casting.

That seem more than a little plausible here. They've been trying to write a good script for decades and suddenly we get an all women cast.

Then, we get the horrible trailer. Mainly horrible because of the Jones character but we also get a rehash of plot elements from the first movie.

Then on top of that, they decide to remove the old movies from the universe yet at the same time mentioning the old movies in the trailer.

Sorry but everything I mentioned is a negative and it has absolutely zero to do with any form of misogyny.

Oh and quit telling us to stop making judgments based on the trailer. People have been doing that since the inception of trailers and more often than not, if a trailer BLOWS...the movie does too.

The people just come and go quickly, the hairdressers don't talk to each other, and no drama ever happens.

I'd also like to see an all Asian male version of The Help

The issue is they took a property that had essentially a cult following and did the most obvious stunt casting imaginable and just replaced the all male cast with all women. It was a gimmick...is that not clear?

But why do you care so much? You're making as big a deal about it as some of the people that you're criticizing.

Maybe Wiig and Co. just wanted to make a funny movie and they love Ghostbusters? Maybe Paul Feig just thought it would be an interesting take to have a female cast?

I just don't see why it bothers you so much.

Let me put it this way, I would also assume a remake of Steel Magnolias with an all-male cast would be terrible.

There are definitely dramedies with male casts that involve deep friendships and tragedy.

Films (and television shows that get film treatment reboots) we recall from our youth - that we enjoyed and give us positive feelings of nostalgia - when they get shite on by Hollywood with crazy stunt casting treatments like this, it's not impacting my quality of life, but I feel justified in getting upset about it.

Whether it's Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the endless mucking about with a Star Wars universe we were happy with, or the terrible, G-dawful, 2009, so-called "Star Trek" film or whatever bit of Hollywood sewerage they want to pour down the sluice and have us all lap up like obedient consumers - I just say, "No. frick that. No thank you."

The Leslie Jones casting invalidates this opinion.

Are they entertaining? Are they sequels/remakes/reboots of other films or are they original content?

I'm not a fan of Leslie in SNL skits but think she can be funny at times on Update. Maybe they found a way to use her that works? Maybe not? I don't know. I haven't seen the movie.

To be fair, I don't think dramas get remade/rebooted too much. But off the top of my head--Godfather I and II, Boogie Nights, Dead Poets Society, etc.

Stuff like Batman gets remade all the time. Sometimes the result is great, sometimes it's not.

And when they make an all female, all black, all Asian, all gay, all intellectually disabled, etc., version of Batman it will be terrible and I will say so.

A more valid analogy would be if they made a movie called The Dark Knight and had it starring Batgirl. The women aren't playing the original Ghostbusters. They're playing other characters in the same line of work.
