Animation looks good, but Melissa McCarthy as Ursula? Really? What an awful choice. While I don’t like the protagonist Ariel, Ursula is pretty much unquestionably a Top 5 Disney villain. There’s no way Melissa McCarthy can pull off the performance needed. No way she can sing “Poor Unfortunate Souls” and ham up the screen and be as terrifying as the late Pat Carroll.

My choice for Ursula is kind of a no brainer to me: Nathan Lane. Yeah, it’s a she-he, but Ursula is largely based on she-he’s. Nathan Lane would just absolutely nail Ursula. Nathan Lane can fricking sing and in a horse voice as needed for this role. He’s played drag queens before and Ursula was directly based on one.

Of course they can’t make the right casting choice because it’d be called transphobic.

Black little mermaid

Doesn’t that discriminate against gingers?

And Queen Latifah would be way better as Ursula than Melissa McCarthy. It really seems as if they just said “Find me a fat chick” and then settled for the first one. Ursula needs a Shakespearean actor or actress and the gender of the actor is irrelevant since you just want the most dramatic and disturbing performance you can get. Just by aesthetics and appearance, Ursula is certainly Disney’s most terrifying villain.

While I’m sure those two racist twats Sammy/Binger and Bronc will be in here to call me a racist at any moment, it’s Ursula’s casting I take issue with. I think Zendeya before she got too old could actually be a decent Ariel even if her skin isn’t typical for Denmark.

If you’re going to do any prequel movie to these live action abominations, at least make a Gaston war movie.

Inside Out 2 should have been in like 2020, and without Pete Doctor and John Lassiter I’m apprehensive on it. The last great Pixar film was Coco, largely guided by Lassiter and had a 9 year production. Pixar has a lot of work to do to get people like me back on board. Disney’s productions have largely been superior to Pixar’s in recent years.

I'm guessing Wendy is now suddenly going to be a strong, sword wielding warrior while Peter will be a goofy, emasculated klutz.

Disney is now 100% incapable of creating a film with a strong male lead that isn't completely overshadowed by a strong female.

They couldn't just make a new Peter Pan movie. It just had to be Peter Pan and Wendy.

The Little Mermaid will do well in theaters. It’s probably going to be a really good looking film. I’ll be shocked if it grosses under a billion.

But seriously can you imagine Melissa McCarthy singing “Poor Unfortunate Souls?” It’s going to be garbage. Melissa can’t sing worth a shite. Nathan Lane is the obvious person to portray Ursula since he could get all that right, and if you say that makes Ursula more disgusting, yeah that’s the point. You need a Shakespearean actor or actress to portray Ursula: YouTube

What a piss poor choice to portray Ursula.
