He's not funny imo. His gestures and expressions are what make people in the audience laugh...not his actual jokes.

Yes.
His strong points are his sarcasm and the fact that he is grounded & can laugh at himself.
It's different for these guys because they are on every night. He can't be as funny as stand ups or comedy shows. Every night he has to say tonight's show is going to be great, then he laughs.
