When all the bagels drop to the ground and Abed shouts out “thirteen”
on a rewatch. Just began season 2. I’ve seen the entire thing at once in order and probably another two times just randomly

Every AMC show has at least 1 irredeemable completely unlikable character. thats Pete in
Pete is the character who is mostly redeemed by the 5th season.

S2E07 - Aerodynamics of Gender - Overall the episode is pretty good, but the twist reveal at the end when Troy is remembering interactions with the janitor is one my favorite scenes in the whole series.
I've been doing a rewatch with the SO, who hasn't seen the series before. We got to that episode yesterday. She just sat their mouth agape at the janitor reveal. I was rolling. She was skeptical of the series after watching the pilot a while back, so I basically just started the rewatch with her on like episode 3 or 4. She's completely bought in.

Troy: That came out of nowhere!
Jeff: Did it?
Jeff: Did it?

Oh you mean the season before he cheats on his wife again?
Good call.

Fives have lives, Fours have chores, Threes have fleas, Twos have blues, and Ones don't get a rhyme, because they're garbage!

I love the background subplot in season 5 of Shirley being an awful mother

That was amazing. I’m not sure if he did it because he is like Rainman, or if he did it as a joke to himself because he is aware of the fact that he’s like Rainman. I’m a couple episodes into season 3, and “Rainman” Abed going into Britta saying “baggles” might be my favorite single part of the show.
The character of Abed, and Alison Brie being so fricking hot, are the saviors of the show, along with the imagination of the people writing it. If you really think about it, this show shouldn’t work at all.
Britta sucks and isn’t really funny. Watching her go from this street smart strong woman who can see through all Jeff’s bullshite, to the dumbest person in the group who is banging Jeff on the reg is crazy.
Shirley isn’t funny and the way she talks is very annoying. Was it written for the character to speak that way, or did the actor make that choice?
I do enjoy Troy and find that character funny, but man Glover is overacting the hell out of everything. Most of his funny scenes are him yelling something in a dramatic way.
Pierce is funny in the beginning, but once he makes that turn from idiot no one takes seriously, to unrepentant, unapologetic evil a-hole, it’s kind of hard to watch. Pulling down Shirley’s pants is where it starts, but the D&D episode, there is no way they let him stay in the group after that.
Jeff is unlikeable and not that funny. I was never really into his romantic stuff with Britta or Annie.
Dean Pelton is great. Really enjoyed Chang until he turned into a buffoon. The episode when his little home in the school caught fire was probably the death of that character being entertaining.
Even listing all of this, I fricking love this show and as I said, it’s because Abed is an all time great character, and Alison Brie is so hot.

I disagree. I think he did a great job

Disagree again. I think he’s great. The fact that he’s such a douchebag but gets soft with the study group is what makes him hilarious

I have come to a crossroads. Do I start season 6 or not?

Disagree with what? It’s not really an opinion about most of his comedic stuff being him yelling something dramatically as an overreaction. Seems like it’s what that character does more than anything else.

I think the character was funny. Doesn’t really change what I said.

I started off disliking 6 but ended up enjoying it. I don't see any reason to skip it. There were some solid eps in there

Why wouldn’t you? Season 6 is awesome

By the way not sure if anyone has been checking it out but Joel McHale and Ken Jeoug started a “Darkest Timeline” podcast and they had Allison Brie on today.

just finished my first full rewatch yesterday. I'd seen 1-3 about 8 years ago and hadn't seen 4-6. 1-3 were outstanding as we all know. I didn't think 4 was all that bad, if it weren't for reading about it on here and references to the "gas leak season" I wouldn't have even realized it was supposed to suck. It sure wasn't 1-3 and there was obviously a dropoff but it was still ok. It had some really good episodes throughout and still has Troy which is a bonus in my book. 5 is the one I really didn't care for. Losing troy and adding jonathan banks just felt odd. I get it, I know that over time especially 5 seasons there are bound to be changes. I just didn't really like banks' addition. So with season 6 there's even more changes and it barely feels like the same show. Jeff is still teaching which seems odd, we have 2 new characters in frankie and elroy, and after 6 years the group is still there as some kind of improvement committee. Despite all that and my initial desire to dislike it, I felt like it worked. More so than season 5 anyway. FRankie fit in well with her role in the group, and while initially I thought Elroy was too out of place he really grew on me and had some great lines.
