Don’t watch if you haven’t seen season 1. Highly recommend if you’re a sci-fi fan. We will see what they do with season 2 because they used up the one book for the first season.

Not sure about everyone else, but tranny in a lead role.

Glad the dude gets work, but that is a no from me

Ever since I saw the beach scene in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, that shite makes me ill.

Shawn Levy is set to direct ‘GHOST RIDER’.

Starring Ryan Gosling.

Take my money

Sigh. MCU moving into XMen and supernatural stuff while DC is nowhere to be found.

Would love to get a legit DC universe that's popular enough that we could get into legit Swamp Thing, Constantine, Justice League Dark, etc. Gunn currently showing no sign of understanding what he has to work with.

Seems kinda late into the MCU to be doing Ghost Rider, especially if they're not bringing in Nicholas Cage for Secret Wars. Black Panther 3 is pointless now.

Does the Balrog even speak?

Depends on if all you know are the movies, or if you have read the books.

Movies, it's a big roaring monster.

Books, the balrog is clearly intelligent. Gandalf had put a spell on the door in the chamber of Mazarbul to keep it closed... the balrog cast a counter-spell that was stronger. The door was opening. We don't know if it "spoke" the spell, but it seems likely.
Going back to the First Age stuff (Silmarillion, Fall of Gondor etc), the balrogs are Morgoth's battlefield generals, so they absolutely could speak.

It's a Maia like Gandalf, but unlike Gandalf there weren't limits set on the amount of force it could use. So naturally the balrogs chose to appear frightening and intimidating, and physically did more directly than the Istari do later on.
*Side note, I tend to think the leash came off Gandalf for this battle. Technically, their fight is more a continuation of the War of Wrath (the forces of the Valar vs those of Morgoth, where everyone fought full strength and destroyed Beleriand in the process). Their initial fall would have killed any mortal, and then Gandalf said the balrog burned him while they fought. Said an observer would have seen fire and lightning on the peaks, and that when he cast the balrog down he broke the mountainside.
This far outclassed anything the Nazgul brought to the table.

I think the restriction for fighting Sauron was because he didn't have anything in his forces that regular people couldn't overcome.

I don't hold much hope that this show will due a speaking balrog justice, but it's actually a fascinating concept.
