I've always really liked his movie. Audry Hepburn and Cary Grant, what's not to love?

I'm surprised but very happy that Criterion took on the effort and expense for a 4k UHD release with the movie being free to distribute/copy in the US due to a copyright mistake.

For anyone that hasn't seen it I highly recommend giving it a watch. Good chemistry with Grant and Hepburn, a strong supporting cast and a strong Hitchcock vibe. Due to being in the public domain, it is available all over including on YouTube.

quote:

Romance and intrigue ensue in Paris as a woman is pursued by several men who want to get their hands on a fortune her murdered husband had stolen. She soon loses trust in those who claim they want to help her.

I was trying to remember if I had seen this one or not, so I went to the Wiki page for it. And about halfway down the Wiki page has the movie, in its entirety.

And if you click it and scroll through it looks like it's actually really good quality. That's crazy to me.

Good film but then I'll watch anything with Cary Grant or Audrey Hepburn.

Charade has been public domain in the US since it's release because Universal Pictures screwed up in the copyright notice in the film's opening credits.

Really good movie with a great cast. The twists and turns in the movie are fantastic.

Audrey Hepburn has absolutely zero sexual chemistry with any of her co-stars. Beautiful woman, but no sex appeal.

It’s been called the best Hitchcock film he didn’t direct.

They needed to work on this script a little more. Great stars and personality etc, but the story falls far short of Hitchcock level.

I would argue she did in Sabrina when she first returns from Paris, and in Two For The Road. She and Albert Finney had great chemistry (and it has been rumored they had an affair during filming).

In Audrey's defense, most of her male leads were much older than her. George Peppard was probably the closest in age, and he was a total a-hole to her on the set of Breakfast at Tiffany's.

I don’t think that was limited to her. Lots of stories about Peppard being an a-hole to many of his coworkers.

absolutely! that's my favorite of her movies though as much as I like Bogart he was a terrible match for her but I guess he was no different than Rex Harrison, Greg Peck, Sean Connery...
