I don’t know if Brie Larson is a good actress or not. I haven’t noticed her in other things. But considering the character she plays, a little stiffness is appropriate. I kind of enjoyed her understated manner.

Yeah this movie will make a ton of money. I hate SJWs too but this movie has none of that and girls are excited about it.

Brie was not as bad Michael B Jordan in Black Panther. That was some truly awful acting. She is fairly bland and doesn't have anywhere near the charm of Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman though.

Michael B. Jordan is a quality young actor and is the only reason why Killmonger isn’t the worst villain in the MCU despite having horrible writing for the character. Seriously his character’s motivations were all over the place and felt like they were written by an ignorant 15 year old from Compton. Marvel really wasted two quality actors in Michael B. Jordan and Sterling K. Brown with terrible writing and lazy character motivations.

7 P.M. showing 3/4 full here. Better get the group back together and go see it again.

I’m fairly conservative and didn’t care for Larson’s comments but I just got out of the movie with my wife and daughter and the message was nothing but positive for little girls. The flashbacks of Danvers as a little girl always getting up and dusting herself off before the big fight was very well done.

As far as acting Ben Mendelsohn left everybody in his dust. That includes Larson and Law.

On its way to at least $150 million.

Better luck next time, champ.

This is true but I’m not near as familiar with the motivations of Captain Marvel.

I'll say the same thing about that as I did Black Panther. If your "group" is so weak and pathetic that you need a comic book movie to prop you up you are in really bad shape. Women in America are nowhere near that pathetic, based on the numerous successful women I know and every single girl should be massively insulted that they are being pandered to in such a condescending manner.

For enjoying a female comic book character on the big screen? I hope she’s what She-Ra was for women my age. A fun, female character in a predominantly male medium.

I mean, Brie Larson isn't Marlon Brando but it's not horrible. It seems a lot of viewers are uncomfortable with a cocky, irreverent female hero figure and are taking it out in the form of calling her a horrible actress. She's on par with Mark Ruffalo as Banner, nothing special but adequate and doesn't take away from the movie.

SLJ probably gave his best effort of the franchise and definitely pulls off the younger, more naïve version of Fury well.

I REALLY love Lee Pace as Ronan, it feels like the role he was born to play with his voice and mannerisms.

I did not care for Jude Law in this role. It just doesn't feel believable.

The best performance in the movie by far though is Ben Mendelsohn. He's in the midst of an incredible 4 year or so run of performances and just dominates every scene he's in.

Her acting was at the same exact level. If it wasn't for you, don't expect to go the movie and see a different performance. If anyone is telling you different, they're giving her a ton of slack.

So is it doing well because people wanted to see Captain Marvel or because of the Endgame lead in? I think it has a pretty good drop next weekend

Went to see this afternoon. IMAX.

Anyone who knows me from the Poliboard knows I have zero tolerance for SJWs and forced girl power bullshite.

Don't get the issues with this movie.

I enjoyed it. Solid origin story. Similar to Thor in a number of ways.

One thing that could be a little outputting for some was the marked difference of one character from what has already been established in the MCU. Didn't bother me, but I get it.

Word is its having a massive Saturday. 55 mil or so. It should hit 155-160 for the weekend. Just an incredible number despite the controversy and being an unknown character.

Like almost everything that opens above $130 mil. It is almost unheard of for movies that open that high to not lose over 50% of its audience in the second weekend.

I have a great example: frickin Infinity War. Second weekend had a drop of 55%. I think it still worked out.

Exception: Black Panther. 47% percent drop for the second weekend. 47% is considered incredible.

When can we stop trying to force a narrative for this film that fits some of our "political" views?

I don't think she is an unknown character, at least not comparing her to the Guardians of the Galaxy prior their film.
