That’s the original tessaract. How it went from Shield’s possession to Mar-vell’s is something that needs to be explained, but it clearly went back to their position shortly after the events of the movie. They had been working on it from that point until the events of Avengers 1.

Very generic Marvel Studios movie.
Larson is boring as paste when she’s not flying and zapping.
Opening Stan Lee title animation was great.
Stan Lee cameo with the Mallrats script was amazing.
The forced nods to Top Gun and The Right Stuff were relentless and annoying.
Interesting twist making the Skrull the good guys, but, shite, THE SKRULL?
Sam Jackson de-aging was damn good. Clark Gregg looked ridiculous.
The music was predictable and its placement was hackneyed.

I enjoyed it but it definitely isn't one of the top tier MCU movies. Solid but that's about it. Brie Larson wasn't as bad as some said but she didn't steal the show either. She's hard to relate to so her jokes always seemed to catch me blindsided. I think that's a charisma think. I get the self control Kree emotion thing but I wish she would have had a stronger presence when she found out about Yon-Roggs true intentions. He voice just still isn't strong enough. Hopefully it gets better.

If she is the one who delivers the final blow to Thanos I will be pissed. Let that be Thor, Tony, or Cap.

ETA: Ben Mendelsohn was awesome in this. Really enjoyed him in this. Really nice to see him play a "good" guy for once.

My wife and I chuckled when the Kree spoke and he had Mendelsohn’s lisp.

In the comics, I don't think the early skrulls were the villains they are later in marvel history. Maybe that's why they decided to go this route.

Liked the movie but Fury losing his eye to the cat makes his line in Winter Soldier so dumb now.

I'll go against the grain and say I think Brie Larson was a good cast.

They were invading villains from the start in FF #2. Trying to kill the FF and conquer Earth.

Yeah, I liked the lowkey cockiness.

Those mad about the Skrulls not being evil, it's not like there can't be an evil faction of Skrulls in the MCU.

Does it? Fury has always had his secrets...and secrets upon secrets.

Now that I slept on it there’s a few things I forgot to mention. There’s a lot of lazy writing and plot holes in this movie.
1. As Larson is getting on the train she just happens to bump into the old lady. When she boards it and is walking among the passengers and happens to recognize the old lady again

2. Goose, an alien cat was just hanging around the secret headquarters. How did it get there? I’m assuming it was Mar-Vells cat. Idk

3. How did the Skrulks just happen to find Larson in Louisiana? Maybe they explain this but I have to give it a second viewing.

4. How does Larson know how to ride a motorcycle?
There’s a few more but I’m willing to see it again to get an explanation for some of it.

She wasn’t great but not bad. Also, her character is a military person who then became a Kree where she was forced to control her emotions so it makes sense when she’s a bit stiff.

This is what I thought. She developed as the movie went on and she connected the dots in her past and spent time with best friend.

It had less.... “wokeness”/SJW shenanigans in it for sure. Different tone and all. If I had to compare it to any other MCU movie in terms of quality, I’d go with the first Thor. There was no one in the movie as annoying and pointless as Kat Denning, but no one really elevated the movie like Hiddleston or Hopkins.
Yep. There were quite a few long exposition scenes and gaps between action. It's a backstory movie, after all. Not knowing the comic book background, I enjoyed learning about Mar-Vell and how Carol got her powers.

And the first credits scene gave me the chills even though I figured that was coming.

Don't know if it's covered in the comics, but I was waiting for an explanation of how she spotted the Skrulls in a crowd. If she had seen Talos before Fury got to her, would she have known?

The cat was definitely an early, clumsy tell, and I was distracted waiting for it to become relevant. Again, is this covered elsewhere? And having it devour four Kree was silly.

Talos mentions her energy signature at some point after he finds her. I assumed that's how.

Or hack a pay phone? LOL

I also rolled my eyes a bit when they refit her aircraft for low orbit travel. I'm sure I'll think of other head-scratchers throughout the day.

Overall, a very enjoyable origin movie. My kids loved it and we are all psyched for Endgame.

I enjoyed it. It's middle of the pack, with respect to the entire MCU, but it certainly wasn't the SJWfest I was expecting, based on Larson's advance press.

I liked Larson well enough. She's cute and charming throughout most of the movie. If she'd keep her pretty trap shut during the promotion junkets, I'd like her a lot more. I don't care what her personal politics are, and don't appreciate their being thrust upon the general public. We don't care. Dance, monkey. That's all we ask of you.

Jude Law was awful, IMO.

Ok that makes sense, because I was wondering how they ended up at the beach to the Blockbuster where she was at, and have time to morph into Coulson. My memory is hazy about the plot specifics but it just seems like it was shoehorned.

One thing I noticed while watching the movie. This is the 90's and Fury says he is an Agent of SHIELD... They weren't calling it that name until the end of Iron Man which is after that.

I was more concerned with her Mary-Suing with her newfound powers. She went from struggling to punch her way through a few Kree to a surgical strike against an enemy armada within minutes.
