Here's my review of the film and it's very similar to others.
First, I enjoyed it overall. I think Brie did much better than early reports and certainly better than the trailers. I liked most of the characters except for Dr. Lawson/Intelligence. She was stale and completely unbelievable as a scientist and authority figure. Both the acting and development regarding her were bad. The plot was predictable, but that's not necessarily a negative with these films and moreso because there are moments you know are coming: Fury's eye, Marvel leaving at the end, etc. I enjoyed the subtle hints and nods to the other films like GotG, Iron Man, CA. Decent amount of humor sprinkled in. I didn't get an "SJW" feel at all.
Solid B and middle of the pack Marvel film.

Watched it last night. It was okay. Kind of on par with Thor, Dark World or IM3.
Larsons acting is wooden. Not sure if that’s the character or not, but she is out acted by everyone in the movie.
The cat scenes/jokes fell flat for me. Too much foreshadowing and wasn’t funny.
The end was a little boring. Kind of like Superman in that her powers are way more than anyone else and there is no real threat after she “levels up”. Other Avengers have to overcome similar rivals at the end of their movies. Nobody can stand up to her after she takes off the beacon. I guess that’s a set up for End Game that only Thanos can take her on.
I really liked SLJ’s acting and the twist with the Skrulls. The 90’s nostalgia was enjoyable.
Decent origin story but not great.

she was just forgettable in that role.
You’re right. Bland, bland, bland. For the sequel they need to spice her up like they did for Thor in Ragnarok. I say leave her in Mohawk mode the whole damn movie, have her play Captain Marvel with some energy - hyper and positive. Larson can act, The Room was great. She can do better.

I just got out of it and I really liked it. I thought it was one of the better origin movies and Larson did a much better job than was evidenced by the trailers.

This. My biggest takeaway from this movie was that the writers played it very safe.

Just got out, it wasn't as bad as I expected. I only fell asleep twice and got large popcorn and coke refills 3 times (usually just once). Brie's performance wasn't Oscar worthy, but it was better than a cardboard box. The buzz out of the people leaving was seemed concern that the overuse of the character would ruin Endgame. Based on this I have raised my initial rating from a 1.5 to a 4.

I just took my kids to it and it was okay. I don’t follow these superhero movies so I hadn’t heard much about it beforehand. I couldn’t stop thinking that Marcia Brady was playing the role because of the physical resemblance.
Anyway, the Skrull twist was good and the movie entertained my boys. I never felt like she was in danger or peril but I was satisfied. Not bad at a matinee price.

If she is the one who delivers the final blow to Thanos I will be pissed. Let that be Thor, Tony, or Cap.
If it isn’t one or a combination of those three, the entire story arc of the MCU has been a giant waste of time.

Rumor/Possible-Clickbait (only one site reporting this):
Marvel's first female composer was possibly, secretly replaced.

Two sources close to production have revealed to us that Marvel had to bring someone else in to take over scoring duties when Toprak’s talent didn’t cut it. Our sources say that Toprak was given ample notes and revisions to her score for Captain Marvel. When Marvel Studios and the directors, Anna Boden, and Ryan Fleck, were still unhappy, Toprak was replaced. Michael Giacchino (Up, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Doctor Strange), who is Marvel’s frequent collaborator and an Academy Award winner, was brought onto the film to give the score that we hear in the movie.

Sad that they had to hide it.

Just got back from taking kids to see Captain Marvel.
First, I want to say that I didn’t see or feel any SJW crap in this movie like everyone said, and Brie Larson hinted at with her racist, sexist comments.
Second, I thought the entire movie was hot garbage. The production value was poor. There were times, not the big action sequences, that I thought it was a CW show.
Brie Larson was horrendous and showed zero charisma in that role.
Overall, by far, the worst comic book movie since Green Lantern. By it doing $1B it just shows me that fanboy comic lovers will watch anything. Get a life and grow up.
