Captain Marvel Spoilers/discussion thread
Credits on now for me.

Solid origin story. Brie Larson was the weak link, not as bad as I thought, but still bad. Some of the 90s nostalgia was on point, some of it was forced. Really liked the Independence Day callback though.

The 90s music was meh, they really should have gone with a late 80s soundtrack though. Would have made more since with the character.

Most of the CGI was top notch. The scene showing the full chase and crash back to earth before Carol got her powers had terrible cgi. And yet the moment she got her powers was exceptional CGI.

Anyways, solid movie, should have had a different lead though because Brie has the charisma and pull of a spoon. Mendelsohn was great though.

Just curious.

They must do things differently in whatever state you're in.
There wasn't a showing before 7:00 PM in the entire state I'm in.

There never is on opening night.

Marvel will do some opening night fan events at select theaters (usually regal). Tickets cost a little more but you get some little memorabilia and a discount on whatever special concessions combo they have going on for the movie. In this case, they had a special edition bucket of popcorn and large drink with Captain Marvel livery all over it. $22 was the discount price so I politely declined on that. Did get some collectible coins.

DC did it for Justice League as well but instead of a combo deal, they had where every Regal CC member would get a special edition Flash Funko pop.... if you bought two tickets. Was not happy about that caveat.

Would you say it's necessary to see this film before Endgame?

Not sure how anyone that hasn't seen Endgame could answer that question correctly.

Meh. If you want to see for yourself how Carol got her powers and why she left Earth, yeah. Some cool little background info on things from movies before it but nothing major. If you want to know the answer to the two things I mention just scroll down...

Spoilers (obviously)

Mar-Vell was working on a light speed powered jet that used power from the Tessaract and rather than let Yon-Rogg take the power source (wasn’t the tessaract itself), Carol blew the engine up, the blast fused the tessaract power source into her body. Kinda like Banner, but with an infinity stone.

Carol leaves earth to help the Skrulls find their refugees and a planet to rebuild their society on, similar to what Thor was doing with the Asgardians at the end of Ragnarok.

Just saying that I don't follow this comic book movie shite. Perhaps others will respond in kind in support. I've watched plenty of comic book movies, and even had a small stack of comics growing up. Iron Man was the tits as a movie, and generally they're all great. For twelve year olds and 40-ers like me who want to relive their younger days I suppose?

None of this shite is important enough to talk about in this critical way. They're man-acted cartoons. There are movies that I lothe that people like on this site, but I can respect their reasons and just not comment or offer my own justified criticism. Easy enough. These bull shite comic franchises for us people who are well-read, get outdors and live a little, and try to chat up the opposite sex face-to-face are mostly garbage. You know, normal people. I find this fixation with comic book heros and their movies to be stupid.

Calls someone who posts a film critique a philistine.

Definition of a philistine:

quote:

a person who is hostile or indifferent to culture and the arts, or who has no understanding of them.

To sharpen the point here, Green Lantern's adopted son, I don't follow the comic book storylines, I follow the behavior of those who do follow those storylines. But its all batman bad to you, caped crusader.

And I would love to have fun at Comic-Con. Get a few days off work, bang some cute nerd babes, enjoy some San Diego sunshine, ask random questions of some of the biggest names in the movie industry. You kidding me bruh?

Anyways, enjoy your indie movies about gay cowboys eating pudding!

She wasn’t great but not bad. Also, her character is a military person who then became a Kree where she was forced to control her emotions so it makes sense when she’s a bit stiff.

Damn, I was looking forward to that leak about the Snap blasting her into the past being correct.

Slaying it, I'm sure. You'll find me at my local bars or restaurants having conversations, or when I'm in San Diego, in La Jolla or Oceanside proper. You're in your 20's, aren't you?
