This would be an interesting discussion to have. Not necessarily in this thread, however.

Why not? This thread has gone completely OFF the rails. I really want to start a CW Metacritic thread where hopefully CW gets discussed.

The issue with any CW is we still have 3 long weeks to wait....there can't be much discussion but even more speculation and worry.....because we all know it doesn't stay at 100%.

And at that point I'll be in a spoiler free bunker trying to find a baby sitter for a four month old so I can see the movie. Any takers in DFW?

If you're making comic book movies, you have to hire people who understand, love and respect the characters, not hacks who see them and their background as an obstacle.

WB really needs this to be beaten into them. There is no great shortage of writers and directors that would dearly love to do a Superman/Batman movie and would do it well. Marvel gets this concept right now and its why they've had some very good and successful movies.

Not every Marvel flick has been a masterpiece but most at least fall into the enjoyable range and a few have been great movies. That's because Marvel hires people who "get" the characters.

And when the hell did IGN and Devin Faraci become well-respected critics? The former has been known to take bribes for reviews and the latter is a joke.

Well, the IGN scandal was regarding game scores, not their movie reviews. And the video game industry is, well, hopelessly corrupt and their reviews were widely considered a joke long before that scandal.

And Faraci is a well-respected critic who is just hated by DC partisans because he has rightfully called Snyder's movies terrible. Well, he's also an aggressive, opinionated voice, but don't we want critics to have a point of view? He has an aesthetic, and he advocates for it. That's what a critic should do.

How about the fact that Marvel grabbed the Russos from comedic television and gave them Winter Soldier and Civil War?

Their talent evaluation process must be amazing. How could you know that these guys could do so well with these movies given their very limited background?

DC was again haunting my peaceful and respectful mind last night, so I dug into the Russo's history a bit. Just amazes me how Marvel can find these guys.

Paintball episodes man. Those were brilliant, and were basically a movie resume.

Justin Lin parlayed a paintball episode into Fast and Furious franchise.

Faraci is a nut job. He's a troll in it's purest form. It's one thing to have an opinion, but it's clear that this guy makes his living off of garnishing either love or hate. Some of his comments on Twitter are bizarre in nature. I will never trust his opinion on anything.

That's fine, I wasn't singling you out. I also have my issues with BvS. But you can't deny that OP made a good point. The amount of bickering and whining in comic films is above any other genre, IMO.
Yes. While at the same time doing his fair share of whining and bickering.

What's funny is all you have to say is paintball episodes and I already knew what show you were talking about Any time someone asks me about Community, I tell them to watch those episodes first

Jeremy Jahns really loved it.

His only gripe about the movie has been a continuous gripe in all of these reviews: the villain really sucks.

But it's a Marvel movie so we knew that coming in.

John Canmpea's latest Tweet.

John Campea ?@johncampea 43s43 seconds ago I call Man Of Steel a masterpiece, and I gave BVS a 7.5. Yet I like CA:CW more. Do I hate DC? Do I have an anti-DC agenda?
This is what I'm talking about. He's probably getting death threats from DC fanboys because of this. It's getting crazy.

This kind of invalidates his opinion however.

True, but it is just that. An opinion. He doesn't have an agenda and he's not going on a smear campaign. He's just giving his opinion and getting trashed for it. It's insane.

I'm starting to give up on the idea of a good villain in an MCU movie. If I had to guess, they just don't want to devote the screen time necessary to flesh one out when they're already paying the good guys so much money.

I don't think it's coincidence that we're getting better villains from the format with more time to fill.

You're guilty of doing the same thing. Nobody in this forum can have a redeeming thing to say about BvS...you won't have it.
