Kristen Wiig is never funny, IMO

she's one of my favorites on SNL so I can see how we might disagree

I just don't understand people that went in thinking it wouldn't be a chick flick.

1.All chicks
2.About a wedding
3.Bridesmaids

Er..... what did you think it would be?

I semi-liked it.

I agree Wigg was a TOTAL bitch. Even more so than the average woman.
Her meltdown at the bridal shower for no real reason other than being a total bitch was a bit uncomfortable.

But.... if I had to watch a chick flick it would be nice for more of them to be a tad raunchier like this one.

Not a great movie or even one I will watch again but it was worth my time, especially free on the interwebs.

My wife sold it to me as The Hangover with chicks.

This is honestly what I thought going in.

I held out hope that the movie would pick up when they were going to Vegas, but they didn't even make it there.

It was mostly others' opinions that made me curious.

One of my friends (a guy) described it to me as "fricking hilarious".

Not even close.

Yeah. Same here. Plus, it was sold as an anti-chick flick. I went in with an open mind. My mistake. I got played. Should've trusted my instincts.

As Otter said "you fricked up, you trusted us."

That's what got me. The main character was almost completely unlikeable. She bitched about everything, and was completely irrational at times.

That bugged me the most I think.

Sounds like a typical chick-flick protagonist to me.

So you went in expecting it to be over rated?

I was pretty excited to see this movie, but absolutely hated it.

The bride-to-be was annoying and too ugly to be a main character, honestly. I just couldn't relate to her due to this. I kept thinking, "Why in the world would they cast her for a bride-to-be? Of all things?"

It went back and forth between comedy and drama, which also sucked.

Good try, though.

No. I just find it easier to watch and relate to non-hideous people. I'm sure that's included somewhere in human nature.

I think it's pretty refreshing to see regular - even flawed - people in lead roles. It was interesting that the most attractive person, by far, was sort of the "bad girl" of the bunch.

Maya Rudolph isnt hideous, btw. Also not above average.

I thought Bad Teacher was a chick comedy that was more "shocking"... Bridesmaids had it's moments but even the chicks in American Pie were funnier than that garbage.

I finally watched it last night. I liked it, although I agree that it never got into the flow. It had a lot of formulaic chickiness, but was Apatow enough to be worth a watch. A bit like Funny People in that you couldn't exactly determine the tone of the movie (comedy? dramedy?)

I thought Wiig was by far the best part of the movie. It would have totally collapsed without her. The airplane scene was the best.

I also am stunned that I like the fat chick overall (not just in this). She actually is pretty funny.

I don't understand all the people saying Wiig was such a bitch. The other chick stole her best friend! - even going so far as to steal her Paris idea after bad-mouthing it to all the other bridesmaids. It's true that she was kind of shitty to the cop, but I think she had a right to at least be a bit annoyed when he pulled out all that baking equipment.

Also, she got unnecessarily blamed for them getting food poisoning.

I thought she was a flawed character who was still likeable.

Yeah of all my complaints of this movie, her being "too ugly" wasn't one of them.
