Why does Skyler catch so much hate?
I think in essence it is young guys who don't really know much about women. Walt put her in a hopeless position but the board mostly seemed to think she was a bitch cause she wasn't simply doing whatever Walt wanted.

Because at the very least she was complicit in all Walt did -- even going as far as to insist he kill Jesse.
Somehow she managed to maintain an illusion of moral superiority to Walt. She's a hypocrite, and I hate hypocrites.
Walt was honest at the end. Skyler never was.

Mostly because she's a strong female character who resisted a lot of Walt's shite. A lot of people saw her as ungrateful and undeserving. Anna Gunn actually wrote a piece in the New York Times about it a few weeks ago. Said she received death threats over it. I'd link it but I'm on my phone.

most of skylar's hate came before the hypocrisy. I think she was just viewed a bitch because she went against walt and at that time everyone was really wanting him to be successful. Imagine telling your wife you are cooking crystal meth...how you think she would act???.....but we really liked Walt and therefore she was a "bitch". At one point VG made a remark about how he was surprised by all of the Skylar hate.

I never watched the show in the years it was on (and don't do Netflix). But caught a bunch of the episodes on the recent marathon showing and watched the finale.
I can see what all the praise was about. To be honest I didn't know if it would live up to what people were saying. But it definitely did.
Even for someone who hasn't seen the complete series, the last episode was very powerful stuff.

I just thought she was always half in half out. She was shocked and scared. Then complicit. Then helped cover it up. Then does a 180 again- pulls a knife on Walt. Tries to kill the guy.
But then in the end, still blames Walt.

Finally watched it.... My predictions were right on... Lydia with the ricin tea and Walt sacrificing himself for Jesse.
Hell of an ending. Walt staring at Flynn hit me hard

I see a lot of people saying that the ending with Flynn was unsatisfying and that he didn't get closure.
I think it's a lesson that when you make mistakes, you don't get to end everything on your own terms.

I never understood the Skylar hate. Marie on the other hand... oh God...

frick Marie with a hot iron cattle brand. I wish a stray bullet from that m60 would have flown a mile and caught her in the head at a red light.

No dude, Walt became a monster. Over a dozen murders, poisoning children, rampant manipulation to serve his own ends.
Uh yeah. This.
How could anyone "cheer" or "go" for Walt?
Given that and SW2 and I's reaction to the finale and series in general, maybe there's more to the split than it first appears.

Skylar got better in Season 4 and the first half of 5. Before that, when she didn't know what Walt was up to, she was a whiny little bitch.

But I'm in the minority that would have preferred a darker ending. Walt was a monster who murdered (directly and indirectly) many people, and with Hank's death he failed to completely protect his family. By giving him the redemptive ending the fans are manipulated to feel good that Walt was able to salvage some humanity. Fans should actually feel reflective about how they can feel sympathy for such a horrible character, but for the most part, that ain't gonna happen.
Bingo.

There were definitely moments where I caught myself pulling Walt despite what he'd done. But when those passed I couldn't help but wonder why I'm pulling for such a horrible human being. Walt began as a very likeable guy in a shite position and it became easy to forget that that guy was long gone in the later seasons. And sometime it's just fun to pull for the bad guy

Give an example of a darker ending you would like.

As much of a monster as Walt became, I could still root for him over Nazis.
