I was thinking it might be a jump drive, or some sort of protected media like a mini dv cassette or something. You gotta think Gus had some sort of Alibi throwing everyone else under the bus cooked up.

Obviously someone powerful seeing as the Cartel left him alive during their first meeting due solely to his reputation at the time...also he had no papers proving his real name was actually Gustavo Fring...leads me to believe his past may become a minor storyline

Buying a gun for protection is one thing. Buying a M60 is for something else entirely.

I imagine the mid season finale will end right after Walt leaves the Dennys
We should know in 8 weeks.

someone should try and cash on having shows after Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead....
eta: as in something better than the shows that currently follow them.

I still think it's for going to shoot up Elliot and Gray Matter.

Awesome that it looks like Mike could get an even bigger role

Walt is now the HNIC
Given that it is New Mexico and the cartels will come into play again real soon, can we call him the HMIC? Or perhaps more accurately, the HHIC?

Episode wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. It needed 2 hours. It was too segmented and moved too quickly from place to place. I also think that they've made Walt the alpha male way too quickly. He definitely wasn't this controlling at the end of Season 4. It just wasn't the Breaking Bad pacing I'm used to.
7/10. I think it set up some great things, but I hope that the pacing levels off so that it doesn't feel so detached like this episode.

When Walt left Gretchen, it was in New Hampshire

I dunno that I agree with saying him becoming the Alpha was too fast. In season 4 I think we see inklings of this behavior. The purchase of the car for Walt Jr. that he takes out to the abandoned parking lot and sets on fire because, hell, because he can. He gives no shits. Poisoning Brock I think is huge because it shows that he's got a plan in mind and anything that stands in his way is going to get out of his way. To me, he had turned into that guy, he just needed the proper vacuum to slide into. He created that vacuum and he wants to slide into it before anyone else has a chance to slow him down.

I'm guessing the cold open takes place at the end of the season, and I get the feeling it's Walter's last day of freedom or life.
Good stuff. Mike kills it.

It's just that they made it jarring by showing so much dominance in one episode. They should've spread it out. He went from being passive to completely aggressive.

so we can learn more about his past especially in chile.
Its been discussed that he was part of the Pinochet government/army in Chile.

Hector Salamanca refers to Gus as "Grand Generalissimo," [14] and Don Eladio tells Gus that he is "not in Chile anymore" but spares his life because he knows who Gus really is.[4]
