I call bullshite on anyone who falls asleep in a movie theatre that isn't a 17 year old girl . If you fall asleep why even go you must have been tired. Why even stay there once you wake up .

I really enjoyed it--one of the better films of 2012 IMO.

The 48 fps took a few minutes to get used to, but once I did, it was really beautiful--clean, smooth, very little blurring which happens quite a bit with 3D. It really enhanced the 3D aspect of the film.

All in all, this film was the most fun I had at the movies all year--isn't that what movies are for?

I enjoyed it and am looking forward to seeing the rest of the series, but I thought it was a bit drawn out. Also, the goblin mine part was a wee ridiculous (too much CGI). They also spent waaaaaay too much time before leaving Bilbo's house.

Overall, I give it a 7/10 purely based on its endless potential. I have high hopes for the rest of the series.

My view: Movie was alright.

I feel like the movie was made for a younger audience. There were a lot of corny jokes and simple humor.

It was made more like Harry Potter than Lord of the Rings.
pretty much spot on how I felt. I do think it picked up at the end and showed great promise for the next one though. I feel desolation of smaug will be 10 times better

I thought the movie was good. The additions trying to tie to Lord of the Rings was fine. The Goblin King with the big ball sack for a chin/neck was disgusting to watch. Could have done without it.

Smeagol/Gollum was badass. Wish they would have done all the riddles and not just some.

I liked the show because I knew what I was getting into, but dear god did it take forever to leave the hobbit hole. I was getting pissed.

If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying to win.

Plus that adds to Gollum's hatred toward Bilbo.

You must surely be trolling. (no pun intended)

LOTR has much more diverse, interesting and deeply developed characters. By a million miles. And by author's design.

I am of th eopinion that if it had come out first and not LotR, the Hobbit would have been just as earth shattering as LotR was. But, it didn't. so everything here is stuff we have already seen.

I do like Bilbo 100x more than Frodo's whiney arse.

as for The Hobbit... while I liked it overall, IMO its a big step down from the LOTR trilogy.

my reasons to downgrade it

I thought the dude who played Radagast sucked and went way too cheesy with his portrayal. He flat out did not fit the tone of the rest of the film. He would have come off poorly even in a Harry Potter film.

There was a massive over reliance on CG. Every single orc being CG made it start to feel like a George Lucas bullshite-a-thon.

Why does every dwarf have an ugly fat hairy face aside from Thorin who looks like a wannabe Aragorn? Seems painfully obvious some a-hole in marketing wanted a good looking dude for women to look at.

I personally didn't like the lighting. Thought it blatantly looked like they were on a movie set b/c they didn't do a good job matching real people with all the CG they crammed in there.

The pacing was poor. IMO it would have really helped if the opening narration and Thorin's backstory had all been told at once instead of broken up.

also, this is really getting nit picky but having Gandalf use the same black out the lights while I yell something important at you move that he pulled on Bilbo in LOTR was lame.

So you're saying that Thorin is a good looking dude and that you are attracted to him huh?

Interesting.
