Google rating over 90%, which is what I go by when choosing a movie. That’s normal folk rating it, & not some movie critic who thinks they’re important. I imagine there is an agenda.

Interesting. How does one rate a movie through Google? Is the hands up/hands down system your best option?

Matt Ramos’ a-hole reaction during the movie screening

If he rented out his own theater then fine, but if he didn’t, that’s got to be the biggest assholery I’ve seen in the theater for quite some time. He’s standing up with his friend screaming and hollering and having some guy a few seats in front of him record being an a-hole.

Ok so here is some harsh critque. Saw it today, Dobly Cinema.

From a story standpoint, its not bad, I read the comic version and he's always been the Lex Luthor to Captain Marvel so had problem wrapping my head around the concept that he is goodish?

I mean the whole point of Black Adam was a heroic figure when given power abuse it with brutality and not use it wisely vs a little kid that fight for what is right regardless of his humble origin.

So, while it took me time to get use to it, it was pretty good. Lets get to the good point, first the JSA.

The JSA was actually impressive, I always thought Dr. Fate would look goofy on screen, i mean the dude is just yellow and blue and after Dr. Strange, that is a hard act to follow. But damn it, Peirce Brosnan bought instand respect to the role and then of course the colors was more Gold and royal blue.

Cyclone, I know next to nothing about her but she was good enough for me, and they actually cast a pretty actress too, which was surprising.

Atom Smash was comic book accurate and believeable.

Finally Hawkman, someone who I always thought was fricking goofy as frick. I always thought his Thanagarian origin was better but good old Hardison brought a certain gravitas to the role and leadership that made he think Hawakman as pretty damn cool. Good job on that.

Black Adamn story itself was pretty good but formulaic, but if you going to redeem a well known villian you need an innocent kid to build that bond and of course a mother to redeem them. But,he didn't feel 2-D, Black Adam being the wrong person for that power make sense and the reason why he is the way he is also make sense.

Now onto the bad.

First yet again, no idea who writing this but the problem that arose in the film was a problem of the main character own making.

Like Sucide Squad One, with Will Smith, they only had a problem because they recruited Enchantress...Had they not recruit her, no problem.

Had they not lock Black Adam up he would have been there to fight the Sabbac champion thus preventing Fate death.

Worse, Fate , who saw this future, turn in Black Adam anyway. It was a dumb thing to do, but maybe Fate just wanted to die. But the main thing is, the big death of Fate didn't need to happen. They could contain, him, go back and get Black Adam and saved the day.

It was a problem of their own making instead of outside urgent force pushing them to do so.

That pretty much it though.

As a final note more like an observation, this is the second Viola Davis role she take where she is pro slavery. First Woman King about the tribe who sold their fellow countryman. In Black Adam, just as the people that had been enslaved by bad guys was finally going to be freed, she sent in the JSA to jail their hero and let them continue to become enslave.

JSA was going to pack up after they bagged Adam, and just let the people of Khandaq remain slaved and oppressed. And the whole Hawkman about heroes shouldn't kill... while letting all these people kill innocents. Tsk tsk.

Anyway, thats it. I give it a 8/10. 1 point taken away for plot hole and another point taken away for the bad CGI face of Rock on someone else body, but at least it is not Dr. Strange third eye level bad.

Oh final observation. When Black Adam son first go this power, he had the original comic book black adam look with the black pointed hair. Yet it must have not looked right because when his son showed up again he was bald like the rock.

Part of it was indeed forced, but part of it was also that Kent Nelson was ready to die (per his speech). There's also the aspect of how they handle seeing the future; is it a possible future or are they looking at the future as being immutable (or does it matter based on who is doing the viewing)?

Kent's death was a useful tool in that he acted as a mentor of sorts. The mentor's death is often part of a hero's journey in that it helps drive the hero down the path (often as the hero's will to continue is flagging), but in this instance it also gave weight to the danger of the primary villain.

I really enjoyed it but am admittedly a DC homer. Me and my date were chuckling throughout at the fun jokes it had, and the action was awesome. She is only a Marvel fan and said she really liked it. My one criticism was the kid and his skateboard but it wasn’t too distracting.

There was also some emotional heaviness with Dr. Fate which I like in these movies. The stuff with his family didn’t really land for me though
