Just finished this movie and i really liked it. At one point it was making me so tense I had to stop and take a break but I’m glad I finished it. I liked the ending bc I wasn’t expecting it. So only mentally insane people could see THEM, right? They had nice cars for people who had probably been locked away in an asylum most of their life.

Well they had their choice of vehicles since the vast majority of people had died already.

Is there a reason Malorie wasn’t affected after she looked her sister in the eyes?

Good point. I was wondering the same thing. Also, i thought at one point they said kids could look and be ok? Maybe pregnant women in their last trimester had some sort of safety?

It wasn’t looking them in the eyes that caused it it was “seeing” what the entities caused you to see- your worst fears-that drove you mad. The outbreak of this phenomena was early in the area Malorie was in so she and others were able to escape it. It rapidly intensified and soon no one could be viewing outdoors at all.

I think it was more that “crazy” people couldn’t be driven crazy by the visions the entities were giving people because they were already crazy. Whatever they “saw”- in their diminished mental state- didn’t come across as frightening or mind-altering because their minds were altered. It was “beautiful” to them and apparently they became sort of agents of the entities- used by them to get others to “look” and thereby bringing on the self-destruction of the sane viewers.

Yea, that doesn’t make sense to me.

The easier, and better imo, ending was that Malorie was loving out her greatest fear, and that’s what we were watching. But nope.

I don’t think looking into the eyes of someone infected caused you to go crazy. I think you had to look at one of the entities yourself. After all, the crazy guy in the house had “infected” eyes and he forced the other person to open their eyes and look outside at the entity.

At least that’s the way I took it.

Man I thought she was going to make girl look...that would have been gut wrenching.

I liked it. Glad it ended the way it did. Bullock definitely killed it. So did the kids and pretty much every main character.

That does make sense, but several times people look at someone with the glosses over eyes and become affected. Like the guy in the grocery store.

It’s inconsistent at best.

Don’t recall that being the case. In the loading dock guy example, Charlie went outside on the loading dock. Pretty sure his being outside and “seeing” is what caused his demise- but we’re not shown the details of that.

I’d watch it again to maybe pick up some clarification, but no thanks.

I enjoyed it for the most part. The semi hot girl and Slim Shady banging and then just rolling out with no follow up was a bit odd.

I knew that poor bastard Charlie was going to get it early on. Hahah.

This film had a great premise but it was dull-achingly slow, had terrible dialogue, and leaves you hanging in the end. It was a really, really awful movie, IMO.

Oh and I didn't find it scary at all either.

I feel super disappointed in the movie. You can tell it was cheaply made since they had to spend zero money on coming up with the monster reveal. At least a Quiet Place had one.

I liked it because I watched it in the pitch black, with everyone sleeping in an unfamiliar house in an unfamiliar place. I was a little creeped out. especially because I am not used to the odd sounds you hear in apartments at night.

Though I think I would have just blinded myself. I have so much audio books and I think I couldn't not look at the creatures.

I didn't get the people who tried to make people look at them. Where they just turned crazy or under direct control. How come the birds didn't go crazy?

So these things can make you kill yourself even if you just see them on camera, yet they cannot enter physical buildings? Are they like spirits?

There are billboards all over L.A. for it. Though there are also "for your consideration" ads for "Black Panther - Best Picture"too.
Film marketing here is odd.

And what exactly did the monster look like? Bullock describes: “It was a green man with a horrific baby face.”
