This is the thread winner. You knew he screwed up but seeing it in a list is pretty impressive.

That was the first name I thought of when I saw the title. That scene stuck with me.

Everyone in Prometheus.
Yes, but the captain in Alien Covenant managed to be even worse. Every decision he made was horrible from start to finish.

No wonder the part went to Travolta, who had fricked up his own career to the point it was on life support when he landed that role.
I thought that was exaggeration but checked and yeah, he was definitely slumping it before Pulp Fiction and really took off after for a pretty huge run.

He turned down some very big rolls in the late 80s and early 90s. I remember when Pulp Fiction hit (I was 12) I saw some Entertainment Tonight-ish show that was basically saying the role in PF saved his arse.

I had just watched it a few days ago, and the scene where he doesnt help Mellish is bad enough....
But i think it was even worse when he's on the German side of the bridge, completely unknown to the Germans 10 feet away, holding what I'm guessing is an un-fired M1 holding 8 rounds... and he sits there and hides while Sizemore, Hanks, and several others get picked off

Winner!!
This might be the best, most well explained post I've seen on this board.

I'm guessing Strange didn't see the version where Star Lord's plan worked up until he freaks out - if so, he probably would have had a spell ready to put Quill to sleep the moment he started asking about Gamora.

This is the only answer.
Fumbled the gun when Vito was shot.
Couldn't control his wife.
Took sides against the family with Moe Green (after being Moe's little slaparound bitch).
Took sides with Roth against Michael.
Believed that Michael would forgive him.

StarLord is one of my favorite characters and I still had those thoughts around that time.
I got the "Strange knew this was the path" and that justifies it.
But then I also think, a ungauntleted Thanos beat the hell out of Iron Man, Thor, and a Mjolnered up Cap. Even if they get the gauntlet off of him, I don't think there was enough firepower to have won that fight. Unless Strange cut him in half with some portal magic which he didn't do while Thanos was subdued.
and with that i'm going to look at my wife's boobs to restore my manhood.

Randy Quaid in Quick Change. Would have easily gotten away with robbery but he kept screwing up.

I've always felt there were 4 characters that could beat Thanos, and each one is limited/removed from the fight.
Thor - Limited by making him out of shape. The only one of these 4 that was needed for the whole Endgame movie, as he was an Avenger. So they make him weaker so he can't defeat Thanos on his own.
Captain Marvel - sideline her for 90% of the movie, doesn't engage Thanos until he has the power stone to blast her away.
Scarlet Witch - Has Thanos on the ropes, gets blasted by their ship. We only see her again during the weird "all the single ladies" moment
Doctor Strange - Demonstrated he had a couple of ways ot completely nullifying Thanos (like the mirror dimension) that Thanos needed at least some Infinity Stones to counter. Strange gets stuck stopping the water from drowning everyone on the battlefield.
So honestly, I think he could have just tossed Thanos into the mirror dimension after they got the gauntlet off, easy peasy.
